**So it's been determined that I have the NY1 trigger. I'm going to talk to retailer about swapping back to regular spring. Wish I would have known prior to purchase**

So I took possession of my glock 17. I run a Glock 22 stock normally, and I have a 3rd gen 19. I haven't had or seen this problem before.

I've noticed with my 3rd gen 17 that in order to remove the slide, I have to pull the trigger back and hold it so the slide can come off as normal. This gun just came from the shop and has zero rds.

The only info I can find is that this symptom is known as or similar to the 'NY trigger spring'. Basically the trigger spring is replaced with spring device which has compressed and expanding abilities to simulate conversion from revolvers to the semi's. It was an NYPD request.

Anyway to visually check? Or could there be something else wrong with the gun?

You can visually tell if you have an NY1 installed. If it is a polymer triangle in place of the spring it is a NY...

I have a few laying around that I could snap some pics of but I'll use the infuriating EE quote of "google is yer bud" for a quicker look. :)

Thanks guys, I can definitely tell the weighted difference between the 5.5 trigger and whatever monstrosity is in my 17. I should clarify, I have been racking the slide and squeezing the trigger prior to attempting to remove the slide.

I never thought to check the box as I just got it home, and assume it would be a factory 5.5lb trigger.

An easier way to disassemble the gun is as follows.

Retract slide and pull down the takedown bar. Release slide and point pistol down into something to catch the slide. Pull the trigger, slide then slides right off.

Your symptoms are as bollox posted a result of a NY trigger spring.
