Glock 17 or 34 9mm Major?

K C Eusebio - a current Zev pro shooter and past Glock pro shooter - tried while on the Glock payroll and only had problems.
Now he shoots a 2011 pattern open gun that's been made to look like a Zev.

If he couldn't get a Glock Open division gun to work with the resources available to him via Glock - I think that says an awful lot.

Thanks, that is good to know. Trying to decide what route I wanna go and can’t afford to drop $6500+ on the STI DVC I want.

You maybe better off starting with a single stack 1911 frame then, after all we are limited to 10 rounds here anyway.

This would be much cheaper than any of the custom 2011 frames and more reliable than a glock in an open platform.

Irony. I switched to a Glock from a 1911 because the 1911 failed every match. Spent a lot of money on parts and upgrades and nothing but problems. The Glocks have never given me a problem. (Of course I refer to shooting production and standard, not open.) my eyes are getting too old to see iron sights clearly anymore, the bright red dot is appealing.

My friend Burke shoots an open Glock, but he started with a 22 in .40. Glock open guns are interesting. Take everything about a glock that they are known for and change them to something completely different. I'm sure it can happen with any open gun, but beware of the Bang Bang BRAAAAAAAAP.

9mm major seems like a definite “No”

I am not expecting to “win” competitions, just wanna have fun and be somewhat competitive, so a full on RaceGlock is not necessary.

Putting on a red dot sight automatically means open so I guess just adding a few other parts to enhance ergonomics without sacrificing reliability is all I should do.

If you have to stay Glock, put a red dot on it and shoot production optics.

Glocks can't take major power factor long term.
Been there, done that.
It will work great for a while (assuming its put together properly) then springs start to break and pins start to bend.
Don't get me wrong, it was a really fun gun and I enjoyed shooting it in open, built it up with all the carver open parts.

Ultimately I replaced all the worn out parts and sold it.

The entry level Bul open gun is $3600

Or, a free alternative, just push one of your mag pouches in front of your hip bone and presto, you are in open!

edit,
you posted your response above before I submitted mine.
Sounds like you may not know about Production Optics division.
Might be the right division for you.

Or, definitely upgrade the glock, but stay minor PF in open and have fun.

I used a G34 in open. Lone Wolf barrel with fully supported chamber, and aluminum comp. Tricked out trigger. No problems. If I was gonna do it again I would use a G17, Lone Wolf barrel, aluminum comp. “Effective” steel comp is too heavy and results in cycling problems. I used about 10 grains of HS6, 124’s seated long. Burris Fastfire on a milled slide.Worked well. PS Wolf plus power mag springs are a must.
