Thanks to those of you for the feedback provided in my last thread.

I worked up my loads from 3.8 grains of w231 loading a couple batches at 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 grains.

The bullet in question is the AIM 124 gr copper plated rounds.

None of the batches exhibited any pressure problems and the powder residue of the outside of the case was significantly less at the higher charges.

The only issue I am still struggling is that these loads still seem to be a little light. I noticed this because often, not always, but often, the last round did not discharge with enough force to lock the slide back.

Its not a problem with the mags. Shall I keep increasing the charge? The seating depth for all these batches was 1.135", is this too long?

Thanks again for your help

Im in the exact same situation as you, except I already have my load the way I like it.

I have a G17, and I use W231, with 4.3 grains (.40 CC powder measure Disk) with Remmington 124 grain copper plated bullets. I seat mine at 1.115".
I find my loads to be accurate, and they always lock the slide back. No jams or anything.

Cheers,
Matt

OMG, I feel like such an idiot. My slide wasn't locking back because I was holding the slide lock lever down with my thumb and not knowing it.

I noticed today, went back to the drawing board on my grip and the problem corrected itself.
