So the last few weeks my glock 17 gen 3 has been giving me some grief with the trigger. 50% it’s fine and works great, the other 50% the trigger will fail on the first shot. I will load a full mag in and rack the slide and I know right then if it will work or not. I can tell by the trigger safety position. Normally it’s just protrudes out from the main trigger and that’s when it works fine. Sometimes when I close the slide the trigger safety will go very far forward and that’s when the trigger will not work at all. When this happens there is no weight when you pull the trigger and it goes all the way to the back and won’t reset. This will only happen when you initially close the slide. It never happens half way through a mag it’s always on the fist shot. But it is visible just by look at the trigger safety if it will run or not. The gun is completely stock other than high tension tricker spring which I have use for over a year with no problems. I don’t have another slide I can try on it to iliminate some possible ideas but I thought if someone had the same issue maybe that could some me some time and money. Thanks

thats a pickle.....

Have you tried to isolate the problem?

You should check if the problem occurs when you use the slide stop to chamber a round, or if it only does it when you rack the slide.

Either way it shouldnt happen, but maybe this could tell you something.

Sounds like the trigger bar isn’t engaging the safety for the striker fire mechanism. So the striker isn’t being released to fire the round. Either the knob ( for lack of a better word) on the trigger bar is worn or misshapen or the problem is with your slide striker safety. Make sure when you press on the button on the slide, you can hear the striker mechanism moving around loosely in there. Maybe strip and clean the striker mechanism and try again.

Not sure what your round count is but for what the parts cost, replace the trigger bar / striker / firing pin safety

When you rack the slide and the trigger supposedly resets and that safey pops forward, can you pull the trigger forward to reset it?
