Hey gang

So my wife has gained some confidence with her Glock 19x. There are no back straps on it. She likes the blocky feel of the Glock over an MP 2.0 / CZ P10c grip.

Now here is my question - do the shadow systems pistols fit a bit slimmer? I have heard they mimick 19911’s. Is this true? Hopefully some ladies here to contribute and dudes with super small hands.

She has small hands and the base of her thumb knuckle rubs against the small beaver tail of no back strap. Since the SS has a longer beaver tail naturally, is this thumb issue something she would run into on an SS like she does on the 19x.

Thanks!

Cocomelon. I have both or should I say I sold my 19x because the MR918 is that much better. The grip circumference on the SS is slightly smaller but the feel is a lot better. There are 3 back straps. The small one give you an angle similar to a 1911 and decreases the grip circumference. The medium is a neutral grip and is the one I use. The high back strap is one that mimics the Glock. It has a pronounced Glock Hump.
If your wife is comfortable with the 19x she is be great on the Shadow System. The MR series has uses the grip and frame size of the Glock 19 were as the DR series uses the Glock 19x or 17 frame and grip size.

My wife has very tiny hands and shoots my MR918 without any issues. She prefers the 1911 or smaller back strap.

Thank you for the detailed response.

Now if I am not mistake- shadow systems does not make a Glock 19x version correct?

Though with the Zev oz9 (c) I can essentially make that a 19x? Or a Glock 17 conversely.

My wife likes the Glock 19 slide length for how it feels lighter than the Glock 17 I shoot. However she finds Glock 19’s a bit short in the length of the frame and doesn’t like her pinky hanging off a bit.

Thanks again!

I just sold my Zev OZ9 with all the bells and whistles and I prefer the Shadow Systems. That's just my opinion. I would recommend the DR 920 from Shadow Systems. It has a full size grip like your 19x plus it has all the exact features I mentioned earlier. The slide is just slightly longer without any noticeable difference.
I went the total opposite way. I bought the MR 918L. Basically its a small grip with a half and inch longer slide. The DR series are available in stores now but the MR920 is still waiting to make its appearance in Canada. The MR918 is still available but getting increasingly harder to find. On a side note Shadow Systems has probably the best warranty should you need it in the business.

I have a Glock 17.4 and a MR918L. My wife, who has pretty small hands prefers the 918L of the 17.4. The interchangeability of the back straps on the SS line makes a huge difference. I have shot Glocks for years, and while being able to shoot them well, I was never a fan of how they felt. The SS changes all the right things and the pistol fits the hand so nicely. In fact my wife even prefers it over my Glock 48, which fits her hand perfectly.

Thanks for all the input gang. I have narrowed it down to the shadow systems. Think the mr918 for the wife and dr920 for me.

Any timeline for when the mr920 is coming in?

How much more beneficial is the 918L over the smaller size or no difference at all?

In June I spoke with John at North Sylva who are the importers for Shadow Systems and he informed me that there has been a delay on the MR920 series due to the Americans on a buying frenzy. I am still hopeful before then end of the year.

I own the 918L and prefer it over the standard MR918. Having shot both I found the muzzle flip to be less and I was able to keep the front sight on target better during rapid fire. Shadow Systems states that the L version is their flattest shooting firearm. I have seen some great deal on new ones from some of our sponsors at 1199.99.
