Glock 20 or Kimber Classic Custom II?

Yes really. The stock Glock chamber is excellent for feeding just about any kind of crap imaginable and still staying reliable, however because of the generous chamber dimensions I have found my 10mm brass was getting bulged severely, admittedly using Very Hot loads. Once I started using a KKM barrel this was no longer an issue. I realize Glocks have their place but I like my STI Edge WAY more and look forward to having a second barrel in 10mm made for it.

I rarely ever say this. Take the Kimber. I have 2 .45's (Kim's) and a lot of Glocks (including a 20). You just can't touch the Kimber's in the higher calibers. They are fantastic 1911's for a reasonable price to boot.

I have had a Colt Delta Elite since 1988 it has been worked on by Dlask Arms and had many mod's including a Barsto barrel.

I always had reliability issues...

Then I moved to a Glock 20 which is an awesome impervious to any weather conditions work everytime handgun...

Last year I bought a 4.25" Glock 29 10mm with a spare 40S&W barrel from Reliable Gun & Tackle in Vancouver...

I also bought Pierce mag sleeves that fit the G20 mags so I can use them in my G29 resulting in a full SF G20 grip...

I also bought the one finger extention made by Scherer to give a slightly longer grip when using the stock G29 mags...

The G29 in my opinion is the best all round 10mm semi-auto handgun on the market so my vote is for niether the Kimber or the G20 spend a few more bucks and get the best of the best the Glock 29... :)

So since we're on topic of 10mm, which pistols out there chambered for it have a good reputation? Is there a most highly regarded one across the board?

I believe that Dan Wesson makes a 1911 Commander length pistol called the C.B.O.B. chambered in 10mm.

Regards,

Chizzy

The barrel on a 20 is too short for 10mm IMO let alone the barrel on a 29. If i want to toss a heavy slug at a moderate speed i will buy a .45 I imagine there would be a lot less concussion and flash too. I could see myself grabbing one but not anytime soon.

Actually the barrel length of the stock G20 is 4.6" my G29 is 4.25" the velocities are so much more than any 45acp load that you can't even begin to compare the two cartridges.

You will only get a marginal velocity increase with a 5" barrel not enough to worry about though.

I didn't say the G29 was the prettiest 10mm I said it was the best all round, versatile 10mm semi-auto handgun.

I'm not knocking your 29, I just plan on a LW 6"er ASAP for nuclear handloads. Oh yeah and sill me for comparing an obsolete cartridge to the uber cool 10mm :stirpot: .

I've had both of the guns you're asking about, only kept the G20. I liked the Kimber more from a twinkle-in-the-eye perspective, but the G20's so much lighter and as such I bought it for ATC use when flying and prospecting. Both are very tough guns, and I love the Kimbers, but I have to side with Glock for the 10mm, the low bore axis is very important with hot 10mm recoil.

Lot depends on your hand size too, I have relatively large palms, and that big G20 grip fills them perfectly. 1911's work very well for those with smaller hands. Try them both, can't really go wrong on this buy.

Not even thinking that you are knocking it because you can't... :D

I am one of the been there done that 10mm guys...

I have done the nuclear 6" Barsto barreled 135gr Nosler HP's with IMR800X @ 1850fps average velocity out of my Colt Delta Elite and I would have to check my chrono/load data to give velocities for other heavier loads...

One day you'll see that pushing the limit is fun for a while but then you'll settle down and start looking at the ultra reliable Glock 20 & extremely versatile/reliable G29 10mm's...

Glock doesn't call the G29 the "Pit Bull" of the Glock's for nothing...

Edit to add;

I gave/transfered my Colt Delta Elite and G20 to my son over Christmas but kept the G29 for myself...

Hmmm I wonder why because the G29 is the best 10mm ever made... :D

I don't know if you've made your decision yet but I would personally go with the Kimber.

I've shot both a glock in 10mm and a kimber in 10mm and regardless of caliber I would choose the latter first definitely, if that's what it boiled down to.

Understanding of course that cost and availability may have to play a roll.

I have settled on a Glock, even got a great offer from a member for a barely used one. But guess what, I sold all my restricteds when I moved back to AB and after the new year my membership expired. I guess I am screwed until I join another club and become a member in good standing or w\e?
