Its probably been asked before, but I'm between these 2 guns and would like to hear current opinions. This would be my first poly-striker fired gun. I've shot the 9mm versions of these platforms and I do prefer the ergos on the M&P, but Glock has quite a following with people I respect and thats hard to ignore. Please chime in, especially if you've had both.

Glock just released a 45 version of the G34/35 models. The G41. This may be worth a look for ya. I have the 19 17 & 34 and the 34 is a very nice shooting pistol and accurate.

Unless you have baseball mitts for hands, the M&P 45 hands down.

Even if you do, the ergonomics are just nicer for a large caliber handgun.

If you had large mitts, and we were someplace other than Canada where you could take advantage of the 3 extra rounds in the unneutered G21, then that might factor in the decision the other way. But alas we are stuck with 10 rounds, and all other things being equal, ergonomics on the M&P 45 wins out.

(caveat: I own the M&P 45, and have not shot the new Gen4 G21, but I have the Gen3 and it was a brick in comparison to the M&P 45)

I was looking at em since I already had m&p 9mm and g17, ended up going with a p227 and slapped on a SRT, works well with all the p226 gear I already have

Gen3 G21/20 have a huge grips, doesn't fit my hands at all. G20SF (still gen 3) that I had was a bit of an improvement, I shot quite well with is. Haven't had a chance to play with gen4 G21/20 but it's supposed to be very similar and I would definitely consider it if I was looking for a polymer .45.

I like M&P's but never been a fan of their tapered/ long slide models, pretty ugly IMO. Between the two I'd take the Glock gen4

All Gen 4 Glocks have changeable backstraps. I've shot both, and prefer the Glock over the M&P. I strongly encourage you to get out to a range and try both... I think there are some in Edmonton and Calgary that allow you to try their pistols if you buy ammo there.

I've got small hands and don't have any issue with my Gen 3 G21 SF, which I think is the size of the Gen 4 G21 in its smallest configuration. I've not shot an M&P45 but I own an M&P40 which I really like. They're quite different feeling handguns--as mentioned above, try them out if you can. I don't think you'll go wrong with either, though.

Even the Gen4 is a brick compared to the M&P 45

Try them both, but I still think the M&P 45 has the Glock beat hands down in ergonomics and fit in the hand. YMMV

the M&P 45 was my first sampling of the M&P line when i strayed from the Glock Brotherhood.

i now have the M&P in 22, 9, 9 PRO CORE, 40 and 45 with a 40 compact on order.

after shooting the Glock for years the pull of the M&P was just to great, had to go all in, haven't regretted it or looked back yet!

I had both for awhile but I ended up choosing the G21 and I sold my MP.45. Both are very good pistols. It just came down to which fit my hand better and felt better for me while shooting. I did get a aftermarket trigger kit though.

I also like the G21 better since I have bigger hands it fits better for me. I also love the Glock triggers, people can say what they want about my Glocks, but they are some of the most reliable handguns I own, other then my 1911's ofcourse.

Still on the fence with these 2. I have not seen any MP 45's in stock anywhere so it may be a moot point. One thing I've been reading about on the internet is the Glock chambers are not as well supported in the 45, and I reload my used brass so it may be a factor. Would be interested if anyone had any experiences good/bad about reloading 45 for G21.

I'm a big fan of the M&P platform and my M&P45 is my favorite .45ACP pistol [although the Sig P227, when I get one, might give it a run for the money]. I've shot the large-frame Clocks a few times and wasn't impressed.

It's true the M&P45s are not common, although I've seen them on EE a time or two. You might have to do a search of online vendors if you decide to go that way. OTOH, magazines aren't that hard to find.

Later: I see Wolverine has a M&P45 for $720...
