I've got a new glock 21, the slide is very hard to pull with no magazine in, and just barely do-able with a full magazine. It will chamber and eject rounds when I get the slide pulled, but when it chambers, it kind of sticks for a second before the slide closes completely. I haven't taken it to the range yet, only dry firing, but this is the first time I've had this problem. It feels like something is stuck on something else. I've stripped it only to clean and oil the barrel, is there anything else I need to do? If pictures are needed, just let me know what pics you want to see and I'll take them.

Thank you.

ETA also, the magazine is also now hard to insert with slide closed, it slips right in with slide open

no, to both. so, I just lubricated it lightly right now. It still gets stuck in exactly the same place. I can pull it back about a quarter inch, then it won't go unless I really force it, which I'm not going to do. It just gets far enough back, that the back of the barrel drops, and that's where it stops.
I used hoppes 9 lubricating oil, a very light coating, just enough to make everything shiny, not so much that it drips off anywhere.

Field strip it and have a look at what's going on. Should only take a minute. See if there are any marks or signs of wear. This does not sound normal. Maybe post some pics when you get it apart.

The magazine is easier to insert on all guns when the slide is locked back. That is normal.

Regarding racking the slide, is this before or after you pull the trigger during dry-fire?

What do you mean there is binding when you release the slide. Are you riding the slide closed? If so, you might simply be feeling the camming of the barrel lug.

Have you tried to field strip, run the slide on the frame without barrel and recoil spring just to see if there is binding of the slide itself?

I picked the gun up and started to get ready to take some pictures of it, and it seems to be mostly back to normal. I think the lube yesterday just needed some time to get the works slippery. It's still a little stiff, but it feels like maybe if I take it out and run a couple hundred rounds through it that should work it in. It's not binding on itself anymore, so that's a good thing.
It's my first semi-auto firearm, so I think that sometimes I'm just not always sure what to expect. Thanks for the help.

Is the recoil spring assembly properly seated in the half-circle cutout on the underside of the barrel?

Could be this.
Also check the recoil spring , I had one wrap around the rod ( muzzle end) and cause binding while racking. The spring gets on top of the nipple and becomes to fat and causes this problem. Take a look at that end nipple and you will notice it rotates and is off center- position it right and binding will occur.
