Glock 21SF (slim frame)....................Pics

If I was going to do this with a 1911 style gun I would want the best gun I could get my hands on, so it would definately not be a Norinco...

If I was going to possibly defend my life with this gun I would spend a bit more money and would most likely buy a stainless steel S&W 1911...

I just saw a scandium framed S&W 1911 @ Lever Arms in Vancouver and it was the most awesome handgun I had ever held...

My only concern would be if the scandium frame would stand up to the 45-08 or 45 Super or the 40 Super or Gunnar is working on his own designed 40 cartridge... :)

I'm not interested in anything 45acp so this gun does nothing for me...

Now if Glock brought out a G20SF 10mm I would be on it like a wet dirty shirt...

 ;)   :D :dancingbanana: :)

Keep holding your breath. The 10mm is basically dead. The short frame has been done on a caliber that people want on a gun that sells, the .45ACP. Glock will have no interest in the R&D for a new 10mm project, they barely sell, there is no market, heck, you can't even buy a modern (the last 15 year period) hollowpoint factory load in this caliber. 10mm has a loyal following by the guys that like it, but Glock will never SF the G20. Maybe if this was 1992 and there was no .40S&W would Glock consider a G21SF......until then your dreaming, and its an awful dream.

I mean even the .45GAP is adopted by more agencies than the 10mm ever has (Pennsylvania SP, New York SP, Georgia SP, South Carolina SP). At least you can buy real factory loaded defensive ammo in this caliber.

You can get lots of suitable factory loaded ammunition for the 10mm???

Do some research b4 you make such statements.

Will you find ammo at a mom&pop or large chain store...NO...BUT, DoubleTap, Corbon and Buffalo Bore have suitable factory loadings for self-defense.

This is how ur puny 45 stacks up against a real cartridge the mighty 10mm.

DoubleTap 10mm
135gr JHP @ 1600fps - 11.0" / .70" frag nasty
155gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1475fps - 13.5" / .88"
165gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1400fps - 14.25" / 1.02"
165gr Golden Saber JHP @ 1425fps - 14.75" / .82"
180gr Golden Saber JHP @ 1330fps - 16.0" / .85"
180gr XTP @ 1350fps – 17.25” / .77”
180gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1300fps - 15.25" / .96"
200gr XTP @ 1250fps - 19.5" / .72"
230gr Equalizer @ 1040fps - 11.0" and 17.0" / .62" and .40"

DoubleTap .45ACP
185gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1225fps - 12.75" / .82"
200gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1125fps - 14.25" / .88"
230gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1010fps - 15.25" / .95"

The lowly dead 10mm actually expands a GoldDot MORE than the bigger 45 and penetrates deeper...:D

I think the 10mm is gaining popularity back, will it ever be as popular as 40S&W, 9mm or 45...NO, but do not say that it is dead.

It is one of the only factory loaded semi-autos that is carryable and suitable to use as self-defense against both 2 legged and 4 legged predators....45 ACP is not suited for that...PERIOD!

The frames for both the G20/G21 are identical, there'd be no R&D. Glock could offer a G20SF tomorrow if they have enough frames.

By suitable factory loaded defensive 10mm loads, I was referring to anything loaded by a manufacturer that any credible agency would carry. No big players touch the 10mm, no Rem GS, no Speer GD, no Win Ranger T, No Fed HST. Its extinct when it comes to R&D from the major ammo players and most of the gun makers. Glock has a great gun in the G20 and I'm not bashing that, but ammo choices have been seen no advancements when its all available in something clearly available as components and factory loads in the same size, just different caliber (the .40S&W).

Pretty much says it all in advancements of this caliber. It has its purists/loyalists, but ammo selection is very weak, where do I find Buffalo Bore, Cor Bon or Double Tap ammo in Canada? And frankly, would I care to pay the prices for their ammo when better ammo is available at lower prices like the others I mentioned with a proven reliable record, NO.

Would I like to see a G20SF, sure. As a Glock fan I think another Glock in their lineup would be great, like G37 said, frames would be identical, I don't know why that slipped my mind, but I just don't see Glock doing it. The SF model in my hands doesn't feel much different than a regular G21 to make much of a difference, although I have big hands. It does make a difference and I would be inclined to go with a SF if I were to somehow lose interest in my beloved .45GAP and by a pistol in ACP. But for the few 10mm Glock that sells I don't think it would make much of a difference for them. How many die hard 10mm fans are going to add another 10mm to the collection for 1/8" off the grip? Hold them side to side before putting your money up.

We should take our conversation to a new thread to prevent anymore hijaking of the original Glock 21SF thread if anyone else wants??
