in about 2 weeks time, my RPAL will FINALLY be alive, so i can start buying my first (of several) handguns. one will be a 22LR, but the other is going to be in .40SW and there's a 50% chance it'll be the Glock 22 with OD frame (the other 50% being a Beretta 90-two or Taurus equivalent, also in .40SW)

being that i will buy commercial reloads and use those by the hundreds (if not thousands), what are my aftermarket barrel options to prevent KBs?

(( i realize that i could go with 9mm and avoid the potential issue, but this handgun will also be my main gun for IDPA and a bit of IPSC so i'd prefer to get on board with the .40SW rounds ))

Glock doesn't recommend LEAD. That is all. If re-loads are plated or FMJ then bob is your uncle, you are good to go with the stock barrel.

BTW- .40 is not a great caliber to start at ipsc in production all scores are minor. ie you are scored the same as 9mm but with the snappier re-coil of the .40.. I don't want to start a flame war, just pointing it out.

Keep waiting out the 2 weeks.....tick....tick.. then buying spree! (as we all have done)

I would stick to the original 9mm in Glocks; these models generally have the best track record for long term reliability and durability. Furthermore, there isn't any real benefit to using .40 over 9mm in either IDPA or IPSC Production Division, since you don't have to worry about making major power factor.

well, in IPSC i'm not at all concerned about which division i'm in, as long as my skill with that handgun and that round is improving. i'll live with and deal with whatever the scoring structure is like, as long as it's consistent from year to year.

i'd just prefer to shoot and use the .40SW over the 9mm - just personal preference. price is about the same, paper damage is about the same, etc. but i did hear and read about the factory Glock barrels having larger tolerances on the chamber and leaving less material compared to aftermarket so from that perspective i'm wondering what my "cheap insurance" options are as far as barrels.

no specific plans to shoot plain lead (unless it's the only thing i can get in any given month), so i will probably stick to TMJ or HP or whatnot.
