I am looking at getting a few things for the bone stock glock. I am currently looking at some cheaper things, such as a extended mag release, extended slide release, stainless guide rod as well as a 3.5 trigger connector....any recomendations which of those things actually make a difference, any recommendations on the brand?

I found the extended mag release to be quite advantageous for my shooting, but I hated the extended slide stop lever. I am also looking at the 3.5 disconnector since my trigger is a ghastly 8 lbs. I bought all factory original parts....I never changed out the guide rod because of IDPA restrictions.

I got my stuff from www.glockparts.com but there are other dealers as well, I think Questar has stuff.

I have also heard people say to get the NY1 trigger spring in conjuction with the disconnector, but can't comment directly on its uses.

Just my opinion But keep it stock. Aftermarket sights are nice to replace the cheap plastic ones, night sights for sure. Guide rod is a waste of money and the trigger on the glock is good enough. again its thats opinion.

The first step would probably be to identify what you want to accomplish by modifying it.

More accurate? Faster? Flashy? Personalized?

The parts will follow from the purpose.

Have you already shoot it stock? If not, do it until you see your group shink to an acceptable level. Then if you still want to do some mods, go for it. What will you use the gun for? is it for IPSC or just casual shooting? some mods is prohibited to get in Production class in IPSC. I personnaly found the extend controls to be very usefull, but some peoples just hate thems.
