Well I have both now. Went to the range today and shot 400 rounds of American Eagle 180g FMJ. I didn't see any big difference between the two guns. I do like the grip on my rtf2 G22 better, but other then that I can't see a big difference in the recoil. Maybe i need to shoot more? Have to admit i was mainly 9mm or 45ACP before. Opinions? I had no FTF, FTE or anything with either gun.

I've owned Glock 22 in generations 2, 3 and 4. Liked gen3 the least. I've said it before gen4 fits me by far the best. Mag release button is improved as well. Recoil wasn't a factor for me but I think it's more noticeable with 9mm.

Thats true but as far as the dual recoil spring reducing the recoil or snappyness of the 40 cal i dont feel it yet.

I will say im loving the .40cal, seems like the perfect cartridge.

I want to try a Gen 4 22 as I have heard the same story about the recoil reducing effects of the dual spring, but I am not sure I buy it. I will have to try it. I shoot my Gen 4 17 alongside another shooter who has a Gen 3.5 17 and i do not notice any real difference between those two.

I much prefer the Gen 4 because of the grip and the mag release.
I have relatively small hands for a guy my size and the mag release on the older ones required me to shift the grip of my hand. On the gen 4 I can maintain my grip and hit the mag release with the thumb.

Not sure the recoil spring makes a difference for me.

I have both as well. Also, I don't feel any recoil reduction with the Gen4.

I prefer the Gen3 as it's finish is nicer, grip is better and track record is stellar (can't say that for Gen4) Really nitpicking tho, as I still own both.

Have to say im liking both as well. That .40 cal seems like the perfect cartridge for a handgun. Its got lots of power but very managble recoil, i love it.
