Glock 22 or Glock 17

just picked up a Glock 21 and absolutely love it, now im looking to get another but the pickle I'm in is should i get a G17 or a G22 just looking for some input from people who experienced both and what is more practical
 
Since you have a "Big Boy" caliber, go with the 17. Save the money on ammo and shoot more often. I love my Gen 4 G17. By the way, how do you like the 21?It's third on my list of next purchases.
 
Unless you have to shoot through a lot of intermediate barriers like windshields, go with the 17.
 
Glock 17 Gen 4 for me..

If when I want to spend more on ammo than I currently do the G22 will be in the running but more than likely be drawn to one of the classic 45's etc (I like variety) lol

First part, rated service life of the g22 is lower than the g17. It's common knowledge, there is literally too many links to put on here. google is your friend, and I dare you to try and disprove it.

Last I was told a g22 rated service life is 50-60k rounds, and the g17 is over 100k. Perhaps a certified glock armourer can shed more light on it.

Internet knowledge.
Ohhh....OK then.
Pretty common kind of knowledge these days I suppose.
I feel like I need to talk to the armorer in my agency ASAP instead of googling anything now.
That guy must be doing something wrong.
We are still using 10 years old models 22 and each of them has tens of thousand rounds thru the pipe...
Your educated statement makes me feel very unsafe.

Feel free to talk to a glock armourer, they will give you the same answer, the rated service life of a 17 is more than that of a 22, if not feel free to disprove me which currently you have not, and kindly stop giving me speeding tickets, I need to buy ammo. :)

Why?
Because there is none.
Fact is that both 22 and 17 will last longer than your lifetime.
Copying lines from the internet won't make one the expert, but feel free to follow this logic.
It's not all that uncommon these days.
If one needs cheaper ammo, all he needs to do is to buy a 9mm conversion barrel for model 22.
Or even better 22lr conversion kit.
When I'm visiting the local store I can always buy 40, but 9 is there only once in a while.

Well anything other than that fly will be lasting longer than my lifetime, that's not much to brag about. Nor did I claim to be an expert. Perhaps you can tell me the internal dimensions of the 22 against the 17, they are essentially the same size externally, but one is chambered for a fatter, higher pressure round. But if all the external dimensions are the same and the internal dimensions are bigger, logic dictates there is less internal materials. Let's see now, less material and higher operating pressures. Gee I wonder whether the reliability will be affected.
