I own both and I must say that I was happy with my Springfield XD. I say a XD in 9 is a good start then buy the Glock. It took me a while to get the Glock trigger squeeze down properly. But I can still miss to beat hell if I am not thinking about it.

I find the XD much more comfortable and pointable than the glock. Also, the trigger is much better, IMHO. Toss in that you can get it for a couple of hundred less and we have a winner.
