I have always wanted to get a handgun in .380ACP, especially a restricted version of the Walther PPK. I noticed that Glocks makes the 25/28, which are .380ACP. I looked around on the Questar site and neither Bar-Sto for Federal Arms makes barrels for the Glock 25/28.

I had talked to a gunsmith a while ago about making a Restricted length barrel for a PPK and he said he would use a 9mm barrel, so my question is would a Glock 25 work using the Restricted barrel from a Glock 19?

It's not a PPK, but it may be the next best thing, it may be cool for IDPA if allowed.

AFAIK the G25/G28s have not been imported into North America.

But the Glock fans forums (Glocktalk, etc) may tell you more, or some of the more knowledable people around here may know if they are here and can be converted.

I don't think it would work. The 9mm guns are a locked breech action. The G25/28 are blowback. the G25/28's are illegal for import into the US for civilians (they don't meet the import point criteria). Only LE can get them, and there is not a big demand for the short round. There are some floating around the US in civilian hands, but they are few and far between.

My understanding is there is no difference between the .380 and 9mm Glocks of the same size, except for the locking shoulder of the barrel. On the .380 it's apparently cut on a 45 degree angle, instead of a 90.

And the length of the chamber. The 28 and the 25 are the Glock 26 and 19 respectively. The difference in the barrel is simply that the chamber is 2mm shorter and the locking edge of the chamber is cut off at a 45 degree angle, I'm sure you could convert a regular barrel quite easily if you really needed to.

They were invented for the Brazilian market, Brazil has a 300 ft/lb ME limit on handguns (with some limited exceptions for members of approved gun clubs and the police.
