So, the news is out. It's a .22 pistol based on the G19. So it's prohibited here until someone makes a threaded or extended barrel for us.

Pretty big disappointment considering that aftermarket .22 conversions have been around for years...

I get why they built it based on the most popular 19 platform. Though the 48 platform would also make sense given the thin single stack mag design.

Sounds like threaded barrels will be available:

Q. Are there GLOCK 44 threaded barrel versions available?
A. Factory G44 threaded barrels will be available on the commercial launch date.

Pretty solid review here:

Sounds like fun to me. I had an AA kit on a G19 frame a while back. Was decent but this one sounds better to me.

Great and long overdue product from GLOCK.

As a die hard Glock fan, I couldn't disagree more. I just don't see a use for it other than a novelty.

Let me be clear... I'm all for new guns and options for people. I just wish they'd spend the time and effort on something like a PCC and really get people excited.

Thank goodness it will have to come to a Canada with a nubby barrel.

I just bought my last gun ever, last week, and have no interest in these abominations.

It must be the 12.6 elitest in me.:p

I've been running a G19 with an Advantage Arms kit for a couple of years now and I will almost certainly end up with a G44. For some people, a .22 caliber Glock will have no appeal, but I have to admit I absolutely love my G19 with the AA kit, I use it for cheap training, speed steel, and recently ran it in a new discipline at our club " Tactical Pistol" which allows .22 caliber handguns. I can see it filling a niche in my safe, not because I think it will be better than the AA kit, but just because it's a dedicated.22 from Glock, and that's pretty cool in my books, I've thought they were missing the boat on a .22 for a while lol

I bought my SIG P226 exactly for the fact that I could shoot it in .22 then I can simply swap out the upper for a 40sw to be able to shoot lots of cheap 22 but still have a full sized handgun. I think it's the best thing about the P226 I don't understand why more companies don't do the same thing

It will be an excellent training pistol, as well as a great means to introduce youngsters to the world of GLOCK. Novelty, perhaps, but I can assure you that I will be getting one and spending plenty of time with it at the range.

I agree on the PCC. It would be great, but someone might call it out as a novelty ;)

Exactly!

I came very close to doing that myself. 2 years later, I'm glad I waited for Glock to come through.

Might be the fanboy in me but the thought of a Glock PCC makes me hard.
