I'm thinking about picking up a stripped Brownells RMR cut slide for a Glock 17. It seems that some people have had issues installing the channel liner in those particular slides. The channel liner tool from Brownells is about $30USD, which I'd prefer to avoid purchasing for a one-time use. Does anyone in Edmonton have a channel liner tool I could borrow for assembly? Or alternatively, if you have any tips on installing the channel liner with an alternative tool.

Thanks in advance.

IIRC a 5/16 bolt works just fine, and the channel liner "usually" gets some damage in removal so it would be worth to change it. YMMV

Ask around to some of the shops that cerakote glocks in your area.
You have to remove the liner before you bake it so they’re guaranteed to have one or something that works.

Thanks for the response. I was planning on buying a few new channel liners along with a stripped slide. I probably won't even bother removing the liner from my old slide. Just a matter of driving the new liner into the new slide.

I'd be happy to loan one to you if were not 2,000 miles away. I highly recommend buying the right tool, or make one on a lathe.
FYI, channel liners are destroyed in their removal from the slide. The inside diameter would be very rough, no longer smooth.

Get yourself a piece of super high-tech wood dowel and drive it home gently with an ultra-high tech hammer.
