I am thinking about picking up my first glock and deciding between these two. I see people calling their 20's (10mm) snappy and loving there 21's (.45) talking about how there is less recoil then your average .45. Is the grip size similar (keep in mind I am looking at the 21 short frame model)? Accuracy? Feel? etc... Any other factors I should consider?

Please ignore the cost of ammo as I am aware of that one.

For the sake of argument please only consider these two guns.

Thanks Glock Nutz :)

The G20 is 10mm, not .40SW.

The G21 (.45) is a big gun. It does not fit the average person that well. The G21SF however, is a beauty.

The recoil differences between the G22 (full size .40SW) and G21SF are negligible.

I am just going to change my original post so I look less dumb...sadly your response will no longer make sense! Looks like I will go with the 21sf as I am not really in the market for a 10mm and I picked up a great deal on the conversion kit that fits the 20 or 21 only.

Thanks for the info :)

The Glock 20 & 21 share the SAME frame (the largest frame). I've owned my Glock 21 for about 5/6 years and LOVE it. How big are your hands? I have very large hands, so the G21 fits me like a glove. Hold them both if you can, which one fits you better...if it's too large, try out the G21-SF (not my cup of tea)

What would you rather be shooting?.. 10mm Auto or .45 Auto...simple as that.

Well, if your going to compare the G20 to the G21, there really is no comparison. .45 Auto is available everywhere, more or less, while 10mm is few and far between and factory 10mm sucks.

I'd go with the G21SF, or the G21 if you have large hands.

I have both. If I had to choose I would take the 20.

.45 is a great round that has been well proven. The 10mm is an awesome round when you reload though. I give the nod to the 10 simply because I can use the same bullets/dies as I do for .40. It can be loaded up to nuclear levels that the .45 can only dream of (except maybe some of Gunnar's 45-08 stuff).

Instead of downloading the 10mm to commercial standards I got a LW 10-40 conversion barrel. Worth every penny. I can shoot cheap .40 for practice and 10mm for load development and fun. The best of both world in my opinion...

As it has been pointed out, neither is going to work for you unless your hands are big enough. I take XL or XLL gloves and the large frame Glocks fit me....Well...Like a glove.:D Just remember to try before you buy. I've seen a dozen G20/21s on the EE where the seller says its just too big for them.

My G20 10mm has major fun factor to it,never a dull moment with 10mm reloads! I also shoot and reload 45 ACP,I was somewhat disappointed,not what I expected period,I am bored of the 45 already! I sure wish S&W offered a 10mm M&P. BTW,my 45 is a M&P45,love the firearm itself,just not crazy about 45 ACP yet!
