I'm trying to make heads or tails of a replacement barrel...
I'm planning to get into reloading by the time I get through my current stock of .40 cal ammo...

I'm wondering which barrel on the market is the "go to"?? Ported? none ported?
Wolf...EFK...Storm lake???

The price points seem close so I'm interested in whether upgrading the barrel is worthwhile...what about to a ported model...

thanks

Why would you need to replace your barrel because you plant to get into reloading??

I have put several cases of reloads through Glocks, and have never had a single problem. Shoot lead too, if you want - just be more diligent with your cleaning.

just concnerned about the mixed feelings with regard to "glock bulge" on casings and that aftermarket barrels seem to pay more attention to chamber support...plus it's always a good excuse to upgrade ;)

The biggest advantage I see from an aftermarket barrel is brass life is better. No glock bulge to iron out.

The next best is hot 10mm loads. With an aftermarket I feel much better. Other than that there is no real advantage. Sure the KKM is going to be more accurate than stock for example, but 90% of shooters (myself included) don't have the skill to exploit the small gain made.

If you are planning to run lotsa lead or hot loads I say go for it. Otherwise spend the money on reloading supplies...

I think too many people worry about "the Glock Bulge". I reload .40 for my Glock and the bulge isn't hard to iron out. I just keep an eye on my brass and toss any pieces that are questionable, if I have to think about whether or not I should keep it then it's probably best I toss it.

I also don't reload using max loads. If I want to make a batch of hot loads, I'll hand pick the brass to use. Brass is cheap and readily available, just be mindful of the condition of your brass and you'll be fine.
