I have consolidated my 'WITSHTF' units on two Glocks..a Questar G19 and a
stock G34....
What would the more learned of the members consider to be the advised
spare parts inventory to keep on hand, and where would you source it.
For example, I would tend to go with a non stock guide rod to allow replacement of the recoil springs, and I've heard that a longer lasting and more reliable trigger setup is to use a NY-1 trigger module with a 3.5 Lb.
disconnector to bring the trigger back down to 'reasonable'......
Any and all thoughts and comments are welcome.

Stick with the stock recoil sping assembly. There's nothing wrong with it. If you are particularily antsy about it, swap it out every 5000 rounds or so. Aftermarket ones are nothing but trouble.

If you do fiddle around with the disconnector, make sure that you are using a factory Glock one and not some aftermarket thingy.

If you do not go with the NY trigger spring, some extra normal ones wouldn't hurt. I've never broken one, but I have seen some others go.

The slide lock assembly is another little part that occasionally goes.

I have broken a couple of trigger pins and chipped the extractor on my glock. They do not affect the function much and are only apparent upon closer inspection.

One other wierd little part that I tend to go through abnormally frequently are magazine followers. I'm not sure what I'm doing to chip them, but every few thousand rounds or so I find that they become slightly chipped and the slide will not lock open on an empty magazine.

According to one of the Team Glock shooters, apparently magazine releases do wear with lots of usage, and result in FTFs which then go away when you slap the bottom of the mag. I haven't experienced any problems with my aftermarket guiderod. I use a Glockmeister stainless non-captured rod and ISMI springs. I've heard that problems, if they occur, are more related to not using flat-wound springs. The only reason I switched is because I'm running light 127PF loads, and the sights snap back quicker with a 13lb spring. If you're running normal factory ammo, I'd stick with the factory Glock part. I order most of my stuff from Lone Wolf www.lonewolfdist.com

You can do a search on glocktalk.com for "spare parts". You'll find some posts asking the same question that you are, and responses by many people who have shot many, many rounds out of their Glocks. After reading through all these posts you will find that the following parts can possibly break or wear out. In order from most likely to least likely:

recoil spring
trigger spring
slide stop/spring
slide lock spring
all other springs
extractor/plunger,bearing,spring
trigger pin
trigger bar
locking block pin
locking block

Now, that may seem like alot of parts. But keep in mind that you may shoot 50,000 rounds out of your Glock and only need to change your recoil spring. Spare parts are in insurance policy.
If you want the bare minimum get a
recoil spring
trigger springs
slide stop/spring

If you want to go all out, buy a complete parts kit of every internal part. That would cost you around $200. Considering you have 2 Glock of the same caliber/matching parts (except for recoil spring), that runs you $100 per gun. Not too bad really, when you consider that if you had an HK USP$100 wouldn't buy you too much in spare parts.

TSE may have Glock parts, not sure. Brownell's now has stock Glock parts.
Glockmeister sells the complete kits and ships to Canada.

I've got a Glock 22 that's got over 25,000 rounds thru it without a hic-cup. I'm guessing the only 'spare parts' I need for it is ammo... :p

Sorry, couldn't resist... ;)

I have what I consider to be complete spare parts kits for each of my Glocks, a G21 and a G17.

I pretty much bought every factory glock part to have on hand for spares just in case something nasty happens at a bad time.

There are a number of parts that I have 2 or more of, such as trigger pins, connectors, trigger springs, sights, mag releases, etc. Not that I have needed to use many of the spares, but its nice to know that if something happens I wont be waiting weeks for parts.

Glockmeister is where I picked everything up from.

I have one - three of every replacement part for my Glock. I have only needed to change the slide lock. I would get the orange back plate to ensure the engagement points are a-okay.

I've changed my mag follower once, tip got chipped or something and was ftf'ing. bought aftermarket ones from lonewolf or glockmeister or glockdoctor, one of them....

The most essential spare part for any Glock is a decent revolver.

bwaahahaha

I kill myself sometimes.

*edit... My apologies for taking the thread off-topic... Please continue

Can anyone recommend a good DVD that shows the take down of the Glock in great detail?

Nice having all these spare parts lying around but what the hell do you do with them if something does crap out on you.
