I bought myself a glock 34 gen 4 for christmas. Took it to the range yesterday for the first time. In 100 rounds it let me down about 80 times.....stovepiping, not cycling, misfeeding, you name it it happened. Ammo used: 2 types of factory rounds and 2 types of reloads. Tried all same ammo in my friends sig, it ran flawlessly. I'm somewhat pissed. I heard that the new style spring could be the culprit. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
thank you

Is this your first pistol? The Glocks are less forgiving on a loose grip by the operator. Have an experienced pistol shooter try running two magazines of factory ammunition thru it.

If you think it is the spring, buy an aftermarket spring guide and aftermarket spring. Get a spare spring, they get "tired" eventually.

All the Glocks made after April (I think) of last year come with the new springs in them already , my gen 4 34 runs great .

Your best bet is twofold, first call Glock, they can check your serial number and see if you need a new spring. You should also disassemble and make sure it is put together correctly.

Two other possibilities are magazines and limp wristing. See if you can use your mags in someone elses glock. Also, the glock 34 slide being longer and heavier, it may require snappy loads to cycle correctly.

This is very unusual for any new pistol. Something is definitely wrong. Where did you get it from? They should take a look at it and diagnose the problem at least. And ask someone with knowledge to take a look at it and shoot it as another member have suggested here.

Impossible! Video or it didn't happen.....
My 14yr old son (inexperienced at the time) shot 200 rnds thru my g17 first time out and only had one stovepipe on the first mag...due to limp wristing. He ran the other 19 mags flawlessly (now if I can only find that cllip to post) :)

I wish people would put down where they from in profile.

-check your mags, did you use any others?
-sounds like a couple of things, but best to take back to where you bought it ( i have a G34 and modified it, zero FTF, zero stove pipe, no FTE)
-take your slide off, and take spring guide off, make sure its seated correct. (changing a spring weight 3 lbs can do all of what you mentioned, are there any mods done?)

I will give you $50 AND pay for shipping!

But, before that, please have someone who knows Glocks run your gun. This will ensure it is not you limp wristing the gun.

Cheers
Jay

New pistols should be lube well during the break in. Even new Sigs will jam if you run them dry.

Quoted for truth. IMHO, in most Canadian settings, under-lube is more of an issue than worrying about dirt collection with over-lube.

Thank you all for your responses. Trust me, the last thing I want to do is trash talk a new gun. I didn't dnow there was a wrong way to assemble a glock, limp wristing, never thought of that. I will go back to the range and find someone in my group that is knows glocks inside and out, perhaps, hopefully, it is a simple fix.
thanks again
