Anyone pickup, hold and feel any of the new generation 4 glocks? It features new style texturing on the grip frame, and a serration pattern on the rear of the slide.

I held one yesterday and found two things I didn't like about it, or at least would take some time getting use to compared to my G3:

1.) Grip frame is now textured with mirco-like serration patterns that felt very sharp in my hand. I didn't really like it after holding for 30 seconds as it felt sharp and tac-like on my skin - I couldn't imagine a whole afternoon with it. Good thing is it will likely grab your clothes, can be used as sandpaper if in a bind, and it's probably very compatible with velcro products.

2.) Again, the seration shark like teeth are also now found on the finger part of the grip too.. when you're squeezing the pistol shooting it I can't see this being very comfortable. General handling might be fine, but not shooting unless you start using an old pair of garden gloves with it too :p

The new pattern on the slide was slightly better to grip and pull back, but looks a little odd in it's half-moon circular appearence.

Anyone else have feedback on the new G4?

It might be worth mentioning and looking into further that apparently this new style is a "trial only" for the 23, and if it goes off well they will do it on all new G4 products.

I don't like it. No sense messing with something that is already good.

IMHO, this Gen is more a case of Gillette Razor Syndrom with marketing trying to make the same product seem new again with questionable tweaks to appearance. Also see Beretta 90-Two.

Put a teflon strip down the center of the slide and suddenly "you can clear the holster twice as fast with less irritation". :)

I like the old Gen 3.5 or whatever the last incarnation was.

I'd agree with the finger groove remark... never liked finger grooves in anything.
A Gen3.5 with no finger grooves would be hot!

Have you ever held a Hogue grip? Night and day difference!

You mean the rubber wrap arounds on a glock? Admitedly no, I've just used rental glocks and the finger grooves just killed for it for me.

If I had one or two thousands rounds to spare through a Glock I'd probably can learn to use one as well as any other gun, but it doesn't have the 'good right out of the box' feeling that I get with a Beretta or GP6.

^^' And sadly I don't think grips are IPSC production legal, are they?

I handled the new G22 today, and I loved it. Great grip, with and without gloves. I'm getting one as soon as the 9mm/G17 is released.

I too prefer the Gen3 fingergrooved grips but I have normal sized hands. I have heard alot of complaints from people with very large or very small hands that just don't "fit" the fingergrooves. I am anxious to try the new stippled grip of the Gen4 glocks though (gotta try everything right :D )

I bought one a few weeks back and I do feel it's an improvement. The grip is significantly more tactile. You notice this the moment you touch it. A lot of people put grip tape on their Glocks for just that reason. Also the serrations in the slide appear to be cut deeper and match the contour of your thumb and index finger when racking which I also appreciate and think is an improvement. I was at first skeptical of these two major differences but after having played with and compared the new G22 RTF2 to my other Glocks, I can't wait for the G17 RTF2 and maybe even the G19 RTF2 (if I'm not dreaming) to come available. As I mentioned in another post, if they don't become mass produced due to the negative feedback I've read, then at the very least some of us will have collectors items!

I LOVE the new texture grip. Too bad I cant chang my G3 frame to a G4 frame :(

The banana's dont look great cosmetically, but work Better, than the standard. I guess function over looks.

Personally, I don't care for the looks of the new model. But I'd like to handle one just to see how the grip feels. Generally, I like the grip on the G22 and they shoot well for me.

Maybe time for an upgrade....

You know, that's probably my problem. I can get my paws around a desert eagle without any issues. 1911s without thicker grips and an enlarged mainspring housing makes me feel like I'm holding a stick... a very mean solid stick of hurling .45 slugs of business, but a stick nonetheless.
