GLOCK Gen 4 "Dot" connector?

Just noticed the existence of the GLOCK "dot" connectors yesterday. What's that about? The website indicates GLOCK Inc. wants the serial to the pistol it will be installed on. How does this connector stack up against stock GLOCK connectors, like the 4.5#?

It's a Glock OEM connector that makes the Gen4 pistols have the same trigger weight as a Gen3. I bought mine from GlockParts when they first came out and they didn't require the first 3 letters of the serial number for purchasing it. I'm not sure what that's all about.

So do the gen 4s have a different trigger weight with whatever connector come in it?
