Glock Gen 4 vs Gen 5 compatability

Will a Glock 35 Gen 4 40SW slide and barrel function on a Glock 34 Gen 5 9mm frame?

IIRC, the back plate needs to be changed, & the "Ambi" safety might cause some function issues? I'm not sure about the 40 comparability?

NO. It is NOT possible to put a Gen4 slide for standard size and larger models on a Gen5 frame because those Gen5 frames use a slide and barrel assembly that has G19 lock up. Thus, Gen5 G17 and G34 frames can NOT be fitted with Gen4 slides

For a g17 and g34, you can use a gen4 silde but need a gen5 barrel and a gen5 backplate. Also use a gen4 slide release.

You cant put a gen5 firing pin safety in a gen4 slide, that would literally be trying to fit a rectangular part into a round hole.

As the poster mentioned above Ive seen the gen4 slide used on gen5 frame, by swapping the barrel to gen5, slide back plate to gen5, and using a Gen4 slide release or cutting off the right side of the gen5 slide release

Even the gen4 back plate can be moddifed to a gen5 with a little trimming of the plastic via a sharp knife or file
