Glock Generation 4

Alot of gen 4 glock 17s have issues tho sadly... be it from the double recoil spring being too stiff, the extrator or both. They are working on fixing it tho...but being in Canada I expect it will not be fast to replace one or both faulty parts. One they are running 100% I will probably grab one.

I have also heard that the finish Glock has been using the their guns for almost the last 2 years now is not the same as before. Has anyone noticed if this finish is not as tough as it once was?

I bought my Gen 4 (22) a couple months ago and have put about 1200 rounds through it. No issues at all.
As a matter of fact, I just picked up a 9mm (17) the other day, and so far, there have been no issues with it either.

The back straps and RTF are the only things I wanted "the rest of the so called upgrades are useless

Glock provided the people with what they wanted; the ability to change the back strap. What were behind the other changes? Now, compatibility is sacrificed.

-Texture (Although there is the RTF2, but I think with all the stipple jobs out there, people were asking for this)

-Enlarged Reversable Mag Release, if you keep it right handed you can use older mags. (I believed people asked for this indirectly judging by the aftermarket parts out there)

-Trigger Bar has a 'bump' on it now, although some gen 3's are shipping with them now. The 'bump' looks like it is there to allow the trigger bar to use more of the firing pin block by having the bar travel in a more straight line. This also supposedly adds a bit of roughness to the trigger. It is backwards compatible to a non-bump bar. (seems like Glock is updating this on all guns going forward)

-Dual Recoil Spring as mentioned (supposed to reduce recoil, no one asked for this LOL), there is a retrofit part that is aftermarket so you can use gen 3 recoil springs.

-Trigger housing is different which also causes the connector to sit at a slightly different angle, it is theorized that this causes the trigger break to require a bit more effort. (by-product of grip changes?)

I have a Glock 17 Gen 4, no failures yet..... I have only really used Federal 115gr, 124gr and CCI 115gr Brass and 115gr Aluminum. Mine has the '02' updated recoil spring assembly.

Since when I bought my Glock it was the first one I ever fired I had afew issues I found I could replicate it many times when I "Limp Wrist" it. I got the Glock 17 Gen 4. When a Glock user shot it it had no issues. Since I found out what I was doing wrong I have not had issues since.

Problem with anything coming from the United States that may be faulty is the border. About nine months or more for my Glock to make it back to Canada. I do not think I would be willing to purchase a generation 4 pistol presently. Perhaps Americans will be getting or already have the improved version of the Gen 4 but Canada will still probably have the problem-plagued models sitting on shelves and until they are all sold the new problem-free ones will not be heading this way. I have no love for the way firearm manufacturers treat the Canadian market; we must always go through a US distributor with a time-consuming border in the way. No Glock Gen 4 in my future or any new Glock for that matter; the warranty is useless to Canadians.

My Gen4 G17 has seen close to 4000 rounds...most of which are my own reloads from my Dillon 650XL.

Flawless!

I've had no issues whatsoever....and this is with reloads. I may of had 3 rounds that didn't cycle properly...slight jam that I cleared with a tap and back to shooting. That's 3 rounds out of 4000...no factory ammo.

I guess I got a good one!

Very happy with it:D

I may at one point consider selling my 17 and paying the difference and get the 19. Only grief with the 19 is that my pinky slides off easily. I guess I could try get the mags with the extended base plate on the bottom to help establish a solid grip (still pinned of course).
