I am having some issues with my gen 4 glock 17. I bought a rock your glock extended mag release and 2 new mags both at the same time. For what ever reason 1 of the new mags keeps falling out of the gun when i am shooting. Now before anyone mentions no i am not Hitting the release when im shooting. Its just the one mag thats causing the issues. It is a real glock mag not a kci or anything. When the mag is empty
And i have the slide off i put the mag inside the frame and it seems to lock in as per usual. I cant see anything wrong. It falls out with 9 rounds or 2 . Round count does not seem to change anything.

Any suggestions ?

The only thing i can think of which i will check tonight is maybe the cut out in the mags its self is too shallow?

I went to put the stock release back in but lost the little thing so im looking for another factory mag release to rule that out.

Any help would be great.

It looks to me that is your extended mag release is causing de problem, either by beeing defective or because of your grip aroud it. As far as my experience, i've never had any OEM Glock mag that had that kind of problem, . I've tried a few aftermarket extended release on my G17 and went back to the OEM extended one. Of cource de sharp edge is a pain, but I rounded it on the corner and now it is perfect. Check your local Glock dealer, the OEM starndard and extended is only 5-9$.

Hope it help!

This should have been obvious to you, but I'll ask anyway....did you change the mag release to left hand and then buy a Gen 3 or earlier magazine that doesn't have the left handed cutout?

Best suggestion if that wasn't it would be to change back to the stock mag release and see if it keeps happening, if it keeps happening, then it is a problem with that particular mag, perhaps the cutout off by a millimeter or two.

The fact that this is only happening with one mag tells me it is a magazine problem, not a gun problem.

If you bought this magazine from a retailer, there is a good chance they would take it back and exchange it for a new mag, that would likely solve your problem.

Likely a very small problem with the cut out....it doesn't take much because it is such a small amount of force required to let the mag drop free.

Is it a factory 10 rounder that was inserted on a closed slide? These mags need to be inserted with authority!

Yes, they definitely do need some authority...shooting IPSC, I once did a reload and began running, mag fell out and landed on the front of my foot at full stride....I kicked the fully loaded mag the full length of the range and was left with an empty gun lol....of course reloaded and continued and the mag was undamaged, but it was a good lesson in fully seating my mags during reloads on closed slide.

For what ever reason 1 of the new mags keeps falling out of the gun when i am shooting.

For what it's worth:
I have had multiple mags drop out after the 1st round, I did nothing, they simply dropped out.
I am a heavy pistol shooter.
The mag release had worn down (the edge that mates to the mag had rounded over)
The notch on the mags had also worn down (rounded over)
I have found that I need to change the plastic mag release every 15K (maybe 30K with dry fire practice) and the mags every 10K (maybe every 20K with dry fire practice)

Not saying it's relevant, just throwing out my experience for you.

I use the factory extended release, file down the exterior exposed portion (by itself on the workbench) a bit and re-serrate it. et voila! a semi-extended magazine release.

Prominent enough to easily depress, but not annoyingly protruding. Buy a couple of extras when experimenting in case you
mess up the first time around.
