Glock NY1 Trigger Spring & 3.5 LB Connector

I have purchased a Glock 17 in September 2009. From the beginning I noticed the trigger was little heavy. Something that all Glocks have. I decided to lighten the trigger a little, but with out making any major changes since I know all the parts Glock place in thier handguns are great. Most people I asked what to change in order to get a better trigger pull said "NY1 Trigger Spring & 3.5 LB Connector". After a couple weeks I bought both of these parts and installed them. The NY spring felt very rough when pulling the trigger so I took it out and replaced it with the standard one. I then called my local dealer and asked them about placing a NY1 Trigger Spring with a 3.5 LB Connector and they said that would be a big mistake. It will only increase the trigger pull and add pressure.

Let me know your opinion on this.
And is there something I could change on the Glock to improve the trigger with out losing the quality of GLOCK?
 
My trigger went from 8lbs factory to 5-6 lbs with those two additions. I don't know what your local dealer is talking about. It also had much more consistent take up and release, the trigger overall was much more predictable.

However, I later ended up replacing the NY1 trigger spring with the factory (leaving in the disconnector) because the field stripping got jammed up a little with the NY1 trigger spring.

While I had my NY spring in I noticed that too, I thought it was my fault, and that I installed it wrong. I guess its a common thing.
 
I simply use the 3.5lbs connector and after a thousand rounds the trigger become pretty smooth, and the gun with this trigger pull is a good compromise between safety and accuracy

GLOCK Armourer manual has this combination listed (NY1 and 3.5 connector) as permissible. Result is approximately 7.5lb trigger pull. The dealer was obviously mistaken.

What is the original pull with out the 3.5 LB connctor and NY1? I just want to see how much lower the pull is since with these parts in its pull is 7.5 lb. Just want to make a comparison.
 
3.5 connector with standard spring will have a very light trigger pull....

too light for me.....i now have the 3.5 with the ny1 spring and did the .25$ trigger job. (polishing)

love my g19!

The GLOCK Armourer manual says:

3.5lb connector with standard coil spring is 4.5lb trigger weight
5.5lb connector (standard) with standard coil spring is 5.5lb trigger weight

I've been using a Wolff trigger spring, which IIRC is the same as the factory, the 3.5lb connector, and a Wolff reduced power striker spring. Hasn't had any FTF with several thousand rounds of various types of factory and handloads with different primers. According to my Lyman trigger gauge, it's just over 4lbs. Everybody I've ever had try the gun liked the trigger.

Thanks for this. I have the 3.5lb connector with the stock spring on my G21 and G17. The trigger is better but I was interested in a lighter pull. I should just be happy. If I want a smooth 2.5lb pull I should just get a 1911. :p
 
If you use a stronger trigger spring, you can reduce the Glock's trigger pull a little bit more, and using a slightly weaker striker spring will reduce it a bit more. Makes it nice and smooth (along with a polished firing pin safety), but a Glock trigger will never have that crisp 1911 tuned competition trigger (because of the way safe action works).
 
NY #1 + 3.5lb is the best combo for GL, go for it
Been using this for several years now.
3.5LB with original spring = very unsafe gun. Too light even for range use, not even talking about when under stress.

Is that 3.5lb + original spring more or less dangerous than the 2.5lb 1911 trigger mentioned earlier?

Edit...Nevermind.....Just one question have you ever shot a Glock with a 3.5lb connector and original spring?
