My question is I owned a glock a year ago and after a few hundred rounds a ring appeared on the barrel. You can only see it when you open the action but I don't like the look of it. I have seen it on many other glocks and other semi autos as well and was wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent this on my new glock I bought.

Don't shoot it, or realize it is 100% normal and accept it.

Get an aftermarket barrel. Glock barrels have a black coating. If you buy a Storm Lake it looks like this....

it this like a ring-around-the-collar? maybe starch it!

but yeah, not shooting it is the safest and most cost-effective way of avoiding unsightly things. imagine, in 2000 years you'll have the only exquisite mint-condition piece and it'll be worth hundreds of dollars!!!
