Glock question

There seems to be a Glock 3.5. Well not really but, a model that appeared between the third and fourth gen issues, often called RTF--rough textured finish. These in between models are considerably cheaper and I am wondering if there are any issues, problems or concerns about them. I bought one, a G22 brand new for $608. and I see that Target sports are selling them for $575. Great price for a brand new Glock. My G22 has performed flawlessly and I can't tell any difference form my buddy's Gen 3.

Specifically, I would like to know if this in between model G17 has any problems, due to early complaints about the Gen 4 series. I am negotiating with someone who is selling a "3.5" G17 as he calls it. Says it has only 200 rounds through it, and I don't expect him to be forthcoming with any problems...it's the internet after all.

No problems with them at all. In fact, they are my favorite Glocks and I have "a few" ;)

I think discounted price is just an overstock issue. Less people want the .40's. Even at those prices, I have paid less for mine thru the Police Ordnance IOP program, so they are still making a few bucks on stuff taking up space.

Months ago a couple people suggested the 3.5's in 9mm were the most reliable handgun ever made by anyone ever...but Glock got its reputation early, very early from Gen1, and has kept that rep. I do hear there are some early teething problems w Gen4's, maybe that's sorted now?

The RTF2 frame style is "too abrasive" for some which could be the reason they're offered at a discount. The RTF2 style is no longer available either. Like Bollox I think the RTF2 is the best texture of any generation Glock.

The RTF is very abbrassive on your Clothing if you carry concealed for work.
The Grip acts like a cheese shredder on shirts and coat linings.

:agree: That's why they are discontinued in favor of the RTF on the Gen 4's. It's also personal preference. I don't care for the RTF2 textured grip on the Gen 3's but really like the RTF on the Gen 4's. Same with the fish gills on the side of the slide on the RTF2, some guys like the look while others don't.

I am one who likes my G17 RTF2. The grip is just fine for me and I've not had a problem with it. The roughness I can see will put off some folks since it can feel quite prickly.

Yes the issues with Gen 4 17 has been fixed.
