Glock vs 1911... or anything

The Glock is a KISS (keep it simple, stupid) weapon when it comes to firing it. No manual safety, no decock lever, no hammer. Just rack the slide back, squeeze the trigger, and BANG!!! A round goes out.

It's called a "safe action" pistol for a reason, in that in cannot fire unless the trigger is deliberately pulled by the shooter.

There are exactly 2 controls on the Glock outside of the trigger (not counting the slide removal), the slide release, and the magazine release. It's a very easy handgun to operate, even for a FNG shooter.

I have one and I like it, because of inexpensive and reliable, It just a gun, nothing make it better than the others. Most modern guns are very reliable but the price of Glock make it more common for first time buyers.

depending on your skill set and the intended use, the Glock lineup has many features that are ideal for the job. For a range gun, the price and ease of operation are the benefits enjoyed by most.

Glock 17 was my first centerfire handgun. I then went through a phase of Beretta's, .45 1911's, BHP's,

My current favorite pistols are polymer ones from Walther and HK, I like the P7 but hate cleaning it.

I just realized one thing about my P2000 and P99, I put the small grip insert to fit my hand, now if I bring friends along, the gun will be too small for most of them.

The Glock has a 'middle-average' grip that allows it to be a good loaner gun.

This is not quite true. There have been numerous incidents wherein a person has been injured while not paying attention and something has interfered with the trigger, causing a Negligent Discharge, many times resulting in injury to the operator or somebody in the immediate area.

Never, EVER rely solely on safety devices inherent in the firearm, even if they are "fail safe". Always rely on the big safety between your ears.

The Glock SAP is a good design and easy for people to use, however, as always, the person using it is the most important part.

Yes very true! I didn't like Glock's trigger safty because of the once someone pull the trigger by accident, the gun will fire no matter what.

I like that glocks fire, but I don't dig firing them. Just not a fan of the plastic feel. I like steel, especially once it gets heated up after a few rounds.

I have Glocks and a bunch of other stuff, but I dig my 1911's and CZ75 because sooner or later (and you all know I'm right about this) you're going to have to pistol whip somebody who just flat-out deserves it. That's when the 40 oz's of steel pays off...

Wait a second, my 1911 does exactly the same thing! Rack the slide, squeeze the trigger and by golly, it goes BANG EVERY SINGLE TIME, and a round goes out!

mmmm... how is that different from any other gun on earth? My 1911 has an automatic (meaning you don't have to do anything to make it work) firing pin safety and and automatic grip safety. It also has a much better trigger than any Glock. Use of the thumb safety lever is completely optional, unless you plan on carrying it cocked and locked. Can you carry your handgun at the ready here in Kanada?

I fail to see how the lack of control levers on the outside would make any gun better than another. I much prefer having a manual safety lever, although I don't trust any of the safety devices on any gun, anyways. Other than that, I shoot my 1911 the same way anybody else can shoot their Glocks at the range, no extra anything to be done to it before it shoots.

Comparing the 1911 and the glock is wrong. Their to vary different animals.
I believe both are excellent pistols, its a matter of preference.
