Glock vs Para

Over 4,500 rounds on my Para P14-45, and nothing boken, yet. In fact, it's still going strong! I wonder how many Glock Kaboons there have been ever since I fired my first shot with my P14... :dancingbanana:

Well I have well over 250,000 in my first Gen Glock 17 I bought in 1989 and it is still running like new.

I have had 3 Para's and will never own one again, had problems with all three of them.

Ridiculous analogy! What's next, you’re going to say that the AR family of rifles is the best there is because so many countries use it? LE’s choice of guns has nothing to do with the quality of the guns, just like the choosing of the AR back in the day, it’s all politics and economics (read cheap).

I never said Glock is perfect, Glock is not perfect but they are cheap. Para is not perfect but they are ####ing expensive.

The 16-40 Ltd. I got last year works just fine, thou I've heard a few stories from people who had bad experiences with Para guns. Most seem to be with just particular models and year of production.
 
One of my shooting buddies Had a glock and a Para, the glock was a .40 and the para a .45. He sold the glock to buy an M&P 40.... and kept the para... he shoots the heck outa the para... He ABSOLUTLY LOVES the para.... Personaly I'm gonna buy a Glock.

You'll read about more Glock kabooms because there are definitely more Glocks out there than Paras. Congrats on getting 4500 rounds through your Para 14-45. The sad reality is 4500 rounds is not a large number to put through a pistol. I have known people who have shot over 100,000 rounds through their Glocks and all they replaced were springs. Their frames, barrels and slides held up and they are still shooting these pistols regularly today. Will a Para have the same durability? Will a Para be able to go 100k with only the necessity of changing springs? I doubt it but I also doubt that there are other pistols that can do this as well. Not really a good comparison topic as it's like comparing apples to oranges. That is, one is polymer framed and the other is a steel of some sort frame. I've owned a Para product and will not own another. I've owned a G21 and shot well with it but I sold it due to the grip being a tad large for me. I currently own a G17 and would not hesitate to buy another Glock product. IMHO, there is nothing pretentious about a Glock pistol. It is a tool that works reasonably well and lasts.....YMMV.
 
I have to agree with Misfire, 4500 rnds doesnt seem like that much, maybe in a hunting rifle. I put 2 to 3 hundred through my hunting rifles every year. But my hand guns thats a totally different story, I got my first, a buckmark .22lr, like 30 days ago. I have at least 3500+ through it already... I suppose if I keep up at a brick a week, that would be like hmmm 50 x 500= 25000, in a year.... but that s a.22, I bought an M&P 9, 11 days ago and I have 450 throught it already... ok ok ok:) I have no life;), I belong to 2 different gun clubs and go shooting twice a week, but still. I figgure if I own the darn thing I'd better USE it!! You know I just thought this through, and if I give up shooting for 2 months I could probably afford the next 3 restricteds on my "wish list"..... naw! That aint gonna happen:):)
 
The difference between a Glock and a P/O is that the Glock is a high mileage gun even for a Polymer gun and the P/O isn't a high miler for a 1911. If you're shooting casually the P/O will probably be OK, if you plan to blow through a thousand rounds or more a month, you'd be better served with an STI or an Armco Norc with some replacement parts.
 
Buy a Glock, then buy a Para. why make it hard on yourself. Then shoot 1000 rounds through each. Sell me the one you don't want for really really cheap.
