Is this a form of anodizing? I would actually like to get this finished color to come out on my scope and am curious how to go about doing it.

So long as it doesn't mean leaving it on the dash of my truck in the blazing sun anyway!:p

I have seen more than a few Leupold scopes go this way but they seem to be older used ones. I hope I don't have to wait ten years for it to appear.

Can it be done?

Thanks

Noel

Turning purple was a flaw created in the anodizing process somehow... I don't think there is anything you can do..

Usually people do not like that purple look and return them to Leupold for replacement.

HI Dennis,

I was afraid it was something like that. To me it is the only way to make a new scope look good on a vintage gun. Maybe I have finally lost my mind!

You should send your rifle to the smith for hot-purpling to match the scope.

Rust purpling is nice too, but a bit more expensive. :D

Hi Mauser98,

Sorry it is not my rifle in the pic. Just one of many I have found whilst surfing late at night. It serves as an excellent example of my quest. Glad I am not the only one who likes them, I still think I am going nutz tho! LOL

If I find one I will be picking it up. Hint..hint.........

Thanks for the advice Paul. Funny you mention it but the 21H you put me on to does have a purple hue to the whole length of the barrel and action.

I love it!

I sent one in to Korth and they offered to replace the scope or send the original back to me (after giving it the once over)......I think those are the options

Thanks for quoting my hint to help my quest. Now we just have to do this in the EE! LOL

Not to worry Mauser98, I have a plan, an evil plan [rubs hand together]...

I will pass the info to you too, unless of course you need my matte finish one. LOL
