Seems like no one is making gloss scopes anymore!
Would be nice if someone would, so we can match a nice scope for our beautiful wood/blued rifles where a matte scope is out of place.
Love my matte scopes, but have recently acquired some noce wood/blued rifles where I am wanting gloss scopes for them.

Models in 2-7, 3-9 and 4-12 would cover the various needs of shooters for their lever actions, single shots and older bolt rifles in various calibers.
How many agree?

Hint, hint Leupold; how about bringing back a "Legacy" scope line to meet this need?

The downside is that even newest NOS gloss-finished scopes are old enough that they are not made on modern tooling with modern manufacturing methods adhering to modern tolerances nor do they incorporate any modern features. I'm glad scopes aren't made like they used to be. I'd love a brand new VX-5HD CDS or Razor LHT in gloss blue with a lifetime warranty.
 
I too would like to see some new gloss scopes. I have several rifles with highly-polished blued metal, and the matte-finish scopes do look a little out of place.

In addition to the downsides for the older gloss scopes mentioned by mikeyb, there is the fact that glass and lens coatings have improved a lot over the years, so that these older scopes,despite their desirability of having a gloss finish, will lack the clarity, brightness, image-definition, etc. of newer (albeit matte) scopes. The dilemma one faces is a gloss scope with lesser optical qualities vs a newer matte scope with better optics. What we need is for the scope makers to provide a gloss option for their new offerings.
 
I do prefer a gloss scope too, all my rifles are walnut stock and blue finish! I do t seem to have a problem with some older scopes, like Leupold vxIII or vx3 that are e sometimes available on the EE and to my eyes are plenty good for my hunting needs!
I really like the fix four scopes I have and I would love to find a used fix 6 gloss in a good quality scope!
