Are Pyrodex RS and Goex FFF the same in their volume? Can you use the same plastic grains volume tube to load your muzzel loader, and say a cartridge BP trapdoor?

The rifle in question is a 122 year old springfield . I'm looking at some Trail Boss ,but have quite a bit of Goex.

Can't see any major disaster on the horizon, but Pyrodex RS is an FFg equivalent. The same volumes of FFg and FFFg powders may weigh different... talking out my ass just now. Better do some experimenting to confirm or disprove that.

The same volume of black powder will weigh around 20% more than equal volume of Pyrodex substitute though.

I have been using a brass volume grains measure to do just that in .45/70.

Yes I have the same Brass volume tubes also ,just wanted to know if the volume of FF would be the same as FFF in the same tubes?

I ask because one powder is definatly finner than the other, and it would seem you could put more grains in one tube than the other!

But I wonder if it is like cubes of ice in a glass of water(more displacement but same volume)?
