I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what the going price for an M1 Carbine is. How much would a WW2 Carbine be Vs. a post war one? I know it isn't an easy answer, but a general idea would be helpful. I used to think they were worth like $350 a couple of years ago?? but now they seem to be really up there and I don't want to overpay if I find one.

I've seen a couple of restricted ones for around $400-700. Non-restricted is usually higher at $600-850. ........but they vary.

I paid $275 for an Underwood Fisher "original" WWII model a year ago and another 4 months ago for $300.

Hope this helps

I would like to know where you can get a USGI M1 carbine, in good condition for $275 bucks. I have two, a Saginaw and and Quality Products, that I paid over $600 for a few years ago. I can't say that I have ever saw them this low anywhere.

I know that the post war commerical makes usually sell for lower but you have to be careful as the parts are not always interchangable with the USGI ones. As well it seems there resale value is not always as good either.

i can confirm that gun is LONG gone
I order other things and aked them if they had any m1 carbines they said no this was 2 weeks ago

most ive ever paid for an m1 carbine is 350.. and that was for a very rare irwin pedersen

I'm not doubting you paid $350, but how long ago was that? The Irwin pedersen is rare but not everyone wants one as it was never accepted by the US military.

Out west M1 carbines are hard to come by. The only one that I have seen around lately for sale is at Milarm. It has a paratrooper stock (repo) and is a Plainsfield receiver (post WWII and not USGI) and they are asking $800.

So let me ask you this? If you had an M1 carbine you wanted to sell? Would you sell it for $350 bucks?

A dewat M1 would likely cost more than $350 these days. Never mind a live one.

The last one I bought I paid $800 for it. It was alot, but all wartime features, no postwar mods. It's so nice there is never a need to find another. I plan on keeping her for quite a while. Find exactly what you want, and if your intentions are to keep it for your collection, offer to pay what you feel is good for you, rather than what others have paid in the past. JMHO

You've obviously learned this from the 'The one that got away' mistake in the past. Yes, we all have a few regrets we wish we can go back and re consider.

I recently sold an all original Inland M1 Carbine (no bayonet lug, button safety, flip peep sight) in mint condition (wood handguard still had the original finish feathering left in the wood) with two original Inland magazines and an Underwood mag for $1000+.

Too bad former US military arms can't be sold back into the US or I could have gotten about $2500 US (or more) for it. :(

What it all comes down to is that the purpose of this thread was to ask what an M1 carbine would go for today and not what somebody paid for it years and years ago. Obviously this guy is considering one and want's an honest estimate of what one is worth in today's market.

You are reading my mind LOL!! I swore never again:)
