Going rate for truing a Rem 700

What would the going rate (ballpark) be for truing a Rem 700 SS short action and what's involved.

*Receiver face gets cut square?
*The lug recesses get cut square, but does this create "slop" when chambering?
*Action threads are re-cut (single-point)?
*Bolt face gets cut square or is this not considered part of "the action"?

What about bolt sleeving? Is this a separate option and if so, what's the cost (ballpark)?

What else am I missing?

How many options are there when having an action trued?

Truing/blueprinting

The last one I had done(recently) cost $150, includes bushings, etc. not sleeving, done here in Sask., there are a few here that do it. I had it done while changing out barrel for new Gaillard.
 
$150 - 275 is the going rate.

It also depends on what the action needs... every once in awhile they end up being pretty good from the factory. My last XP100 action only needed lapping of the bolt lugs.
 
I like the term action truing... I don't think the term "blueprinting" is really correct when what is really being done is to true the action face, threads and lug recesses to the bolt race, and to true the bolt lugs and bolt face to the bolt body. There are no blue prints to follow. ... and that is all that really needs to be done to make an action very true and to have the capability to shoot very well.

However depending on your wallet this can be taken father... the bolt body can be made larger at the rear to have very little movement, the firing pin hole can be bushed smaller and the firing pin tip reduced to fit it perfectly. Some will ream the bolt race way and install a new larger bolt or install a sleeve over the old bolt body for a tighter bolt to action fit. None of this is cheap and it is really hard to determine if it makes any difference in accuracy of a cartridge larger than 6mm PPC.

It is important that stages of truing are done in one set up. A more accurate job is easier to obtain that way.

I agree "Truing" is better terminology, as by truing the action 1 actually changes what some of the measurements are to smaller dimensions in most cases.
Something we do here over and above standard truing, is to check the scope mounting screw holes for being true to the bore of the action and redrill them to a larger size, if needed, to be get all 4 holes perfectly inline with the true center of the action.
 
I like what Rick has stated. I've seen a few actions from Rem and Savage that had a slight deviation in mounting alignment. Once a scope was mounted it was noticed that over 2 MOA of windage was needed to zero the scope at 200 m. Since the mounts were slightly off this equated to several feet off in windage at longer ranges. Let me tell you it would suck to have to deal with windage adjustments for every range.

I do not just do a true job, it is all part of barrel installation as I do not have the time to do action trueing for other smiths to do the rebarrel work.
So including the already mentioned work as well as recutting the threads to center of action bore, trueing lugs and boltface, then cutting the threads on a new barrel to fit the action, cutting a match tolerance chamber, crowning the barrel, bead blast finish and either cnc cut engraving or laser engraving the total is $600.00
