Hello I am very new to shooting, I am going out on Friday with some friends to shoot some skeet. I have a used Baikal single #### I am going to use, not sure if it will be any good for skeet i paid $100 for it and it will be my first time shooting it ever. Any tips for a newb would be greatly appreciated thanks. This will be my first time, I have shot lots of rifles but never shotguns before.

yup, single shot with two clays is pretty tough, hope you're FAST on the reload :)

welcome aboard, step one: equipment. Hop on over to the appropriate forum, learn about what you need. This is an ADDICTIVE hobby, where you can easily spend a GREAT deal of time and money, for very little reward other than personal satisfaction.

Next step: apply for access to the EE. Find yourself a cheap double barrel 12ga, and you're off to the races!

Good luck, keep us posted at how you do!

Don't think about the ones that you miss. Think about the ones you hit. Those are the ones that keep you coming back. Enjoy. :)

well maybe skeet was the wrong word to use. We are going out to is farm and launch some clays and hopefully shoot them lol. Obviously I will only be doing singles due to my gear lol, or try doubles with one of his pumps. Mostly just going out for an afternoon for a good time.

Keep your eye on the bird,do not aim like a rifle piont it,do not stop the gun, keep your cheek on the stock stay ahead of the bird and shoot.Stay safe open action to the station open action out of the station and have fun.

That's different- closer to trap than skeet, but nothing formal, you'll be fine, have a blast. Remember the safety rules, lead your shot, but mostly, don't wait too long to pull the trigger, or it'll end up out of range.

Most of all, enjoy!

Then skeet was the wrong word to use. At least you didn't refer to the clay targets as "skeets".:D

With an informal setup like that and a baikal when the target is thrown away from you cover and pull the trigger. If its off on a slight angle follow the line of its path and shoot just in front of it. If you wait till the target starts to drop you have to shoot well under the target

thanks for all the advice, I can't wait to go. Supposed to get a few inches of snow but I wont let that stop me.

the weather always sucks when you plan to be outdoors.

Glad you had fun. If you can enjoy it in bad weather in Feb., just think of what a sunny day in May is going to be :D
