...before I do, someone please try and talk me out of it because they're insanely expensive.

Has anyone on here got a Trijicon RMR on top of their ACOG? I've already got a JP Enterprises red dot on top of mine but it's just too hard to zero and I like the idea that the RMR 06 has adjustable brightness as well.

Kind of a special order item so any input anyone has would be appreciated.

$531 at Brownells...not really insanely expensive.

I spent about $400 on my aimpoint, and I would of figured Trij's would be way more.

I have to be the guy to say this:

Vortex is going to be making a Razor red-dot in 2012. It looks like this:

I am definitely interested.

I had the delta point and did not like seeing two dots, the dot reflected off both glass surfaces. Buy the rmr. Have one. You will like it.

So I got one, RMR 06, i.e. 3.5 MOA dot, adjustable brightness.

Was impressed when first taking out of the box because it's very solid, wasn't so impressed when putting it together. First thing that narked me off was that you need three different hex wrench sizes to screw it all together, one for the mount, one for the grub screws and another to screw the sight onto the mount.

Then it didn't work, because they've forgotten the first rule of electronics engineering - batteries vary in size, so you use springs to hold them in. The supplied CR 2032 was a bit too thin to apply enough pressure to the contact to work. So I phoned them and they told me to thicken the battery with electrical tape - not very reassuring given the price. But it did work (and it was several layers of tape too). My personal view is that the mount should have a flat spring on it to push the battery upwards. (I note in the SHOT show thread they didn't have the RMR on the ACOG).

The grub screws at the front of the mount are superfluous, I could see why you might need them if your ACOG is a mess but all they did for me was make zeroing impossible (by applying pressure to the front of the mount) so I removed them.

However after all that it does work, and it's better than the dot sight I had from JP Enterprises. The best part of it is the windage and elevation adjustments are bang on and I was able to "do a square" and the adjustments remained correct. Also having the brightness adjustment is really helpful, no question.

I'm just concerned about the longevity of the battery compartment contact, but it is a .223 rifle so it doesn't get jolted around like it would on a pistol. Plus it's not like I'm using it on a machinegun or anything.

I was actually debating on a deltapoint or rmr. I just got my Benelli M4 last week and want to put a mini red dot sight on it. Deltapoint is less expensive (notice how I didn't say cheaper, no such thing), seems to have great features, larger fov area, comes with all the attachments, auto on/off, among others. Just need to hear the good and bad on both these sights. Also, where would be the best to buy?

It's msrp is $599! More than RMR and Deltapoint! IMHO, Trijicon and Leupold produce higher quality optics than Vortex. I think they've priced it way too high.

I've got an RMR mounted to an ACOG but it's the dual illuminated RMR. works quite well so far. Also I have an RM 01 mounted alone on my CZ-858 and it also seems to work just fine.

i have the dual illuminated version rm04 no problems works great i want the led adjustable for my acog but i guess ill stick with dual illuminated versions

The Dr Optic 2 is better than all of these. Have one sitting on my M4 for about 1000rds of slugs and 00 buck , still going strong.
