.............Well after shooting over 300 rounds through the guide gun with 45 grains of H322 netting me an average of 1587 fps, i am going to see how fast i can go while keeping accuracy sufficient and leading to a minimum. This is with a 405 grain bullet. I once tried 52 grains for kicks but the leading was a bit much but the accuracy was pretty good. Hoping for around 48-49 grains and around 1700 fps. We'll see how she goes.:D

What bullet weight you using? I'm loading a 380gr Lead Round Nose Gas Checked over 48gr of IMR 3031 @1480 FPS with good accuracy, no leading what so ever, and light recoil. I figure I could push it to 50gr of powder for approx 1600-1650 FPS, but I'm a recoil pussy.....

Ya, I know, ironic that I own and love to shoot the 45-70......but I hate recoil....

Hello Win94....
These GG's are pretty neat eh?...Another easy shooting and very accurate load in mine is 36grs. of H4198/Fed210/400gr.gc.(Mt Molds) aircooled wheel wts. sized .460 with speedgreen lube...I have not chronied it yet but it is between trapdoor and Marlin 95 loads as listed in the HOGODON 2006 annual manual......will be interested to see how well your H322 loads shoot....

P.S.----I bought my Stainless GG from the 6 yr old midget himself....(280_ Ackley) and love it.....He is still very young and will become wiser (though not taller) with age...~:D ~ CHEERS!

45-70 loads

Marlin 1895, 22 inch barrel, Ballard Rifling
420 grain GC cast bullet
40 grains IMR 4198
Chronograph 1707 fps
:D :)
I tried some penetration tests on wood blocks, never did find any bullets.

........fellas, my test was a flop. I went from 46 to 49 grain in 1 grain inrements and nothing shot as accurate as the 45 grains which yields me around 1600 fps. I think i will stick to this load. Its a 405 grain plain based lead hard cast.

I'm sure it's a clod hopper of a load anyway....the deer, bear, and moose don't feel the difference a hundred or so FPS makes.....perhaps try .5 gr increments though.....you may find the sweet spot that way.....

.............Here is the 3 shot group using 45 grains hovering around 1600fps. This is at 50 yards with a bore sighted scope only. Not zeroed.
