The CGN search engine isn't working at the moment so I will ask this here. :)

I am hoping to go to the USA for IPSC and rifle matches, etc. I know I need a Form 6NIA and a hunting license and was told North Dakota was the cheapest place to get a hunting license from. And it is south of the border so no questions about "Your hunting license is in Alaska... you're going the wrong way!", etc. But seems I need proof of having taken a hunting course to get their license in ND.

So other than Alaska, what states don't require anything to get a hunting license in?

Thanks for your help!

They don't care which state lic. you have....

They're not supposed to care.....but I've had to deal with some uniformed border security officers who've threatened to turn me back....

And did they..?

I'll bet no.

Print & keep a copy of the first two pages of the Form6NIA with you when you travel. Page 1 paragraph 18 explains about out-of-state hunting licenses.
I've never had to show this - it's only my theory.

Idaho Non-Resident Shooting Preserve Licence about $16.00 USD. Not listed on the site, you must start the ordering procedure to see it listed.

Doh! I just ordered mine from Alaska a few hours before you posted that JP. Does Idaho require proof of having taken a hunters course? Man, I could have saved 4 yankee dollars! :( Maybe next year.

Do you guys list every gun you could possibly conceive of ever taking to the USA on your Form 6NIA? Does it take longer if there are 10 guns versus 5?

What is the maximum amount of ammo that I can list per gun? Couldn't find any limit in the ATF .pdf files.

Thanks again,

Fudd

Don't bother listing your Norc's or any US Gov issue items (Garands & 1911's). List 1000 rds of each manufacturer of each caliber you may take, including home grown.
ie.
Win...shot...12ga...1000
Fed...shot...12ga...1000
Fed...ball...45acp...1000

I am also going to the U.S...

I will be there for 2 weeks in April, and would like to shoot IPSC matches. I have heard that I could send in a USPSA membership with the form 6, which for me is more accurate than a hunting licence. Does this make sense? I have not joined USPSA, but will if necessary to compete and to get a form 6.

I will be on a driving vacation in the south, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana etc. and was hoping to find match schedules online and do some shooting while travelling.:)

Should I contact IPSC Ontario or IPSC Canada for U.S. competition info? Any help is greatly appreciated.
