Golden Eagles & Using Them to Hunt in Mongolia, VIDEO...

Truly impressive video. Thanks..

The talons on the eagles do their job quickly when puncturing the lungs and spine of those wolves.

Sure looked like the wolves got the better of the birds in some of the footage, but they seemed to shake it off unscathed.:).

Great to see how others hunt in different lands with thousands of years of deep, traditional hunting history.
Those birds must be of a lineage that goes back hundreds of years. I cant imagine it's easy to teach a bird to hunt and try an kill something that bites back?..

A 84 year old B.C. rancher told me that he had twice seen an eagle dive and attack a deer, and opens up its soft belly with its claw, and then fly up in a three and watch the deer expire, and be ready for dinner.

I was just west of Fernie up on the top of a cliff prospecting about 3 weeks ago when I spotted a golden eagle flying below me one of the most majestic animals I have ever had the pleasure to watch.

Golden eagle do kill deer.

Here is a video of one killing a European Roe deer.

And another one pushing wild goat off cliffs.

Jesus, I never knew these birds were so lethal, having said that, for a goat, falling off a cliff is probably a better death that being cut open with talons.

I had read about the mongolian trained eagels killing foxes and even wolves. Really impressive to see; I would have thought that if the eagle missed it's hit at all, the wolf would kill it in a ground fight, but that doesn't seem the case.

That was the coolest footage I have seen in days. I have always had a penchant for the the Golden Eagle. They are huge, and love the cliff/rocky edge areas. Baldies are like over grown seagulls if you ask me.
Another amazing bird to watch is the Gyrfalcon. The way they take control of their prey while they are flying is crazy. Helps that they are beautiful too.

Very cool footage. I still like the Osprey that perches on the hydropole by my place. Twice when I have been down canoe fishing in the lake I've seen him drop into the water and pull out a bigger fish than anything I'll ever catch that night. Truly amazing eyesight and depth perception.

If a wolf ever got its jaws around the eagle it would crush it pretty easily. Dog's jaws are able to exert tonnes of force. I think that's footage of a successful hunt. Mind you, there seems to be a lot of footage.
