Gagnon Sports, a CGN sponsor, posted an interesting milsurp sporter yesterday:

I'd not heard about these sporters, but was able to find some additional info: http://www.uiweb.uidaho.edu/stratton/SantaFeRifles.htm

Not my cup-of-tea, but I find it interesting that so much effort would be spent on making (I believe) an LE No.3 receiver into a No.5 look-alike.

Anyways, thought others might be curious like me.

Santa Fe rifles were usually made out of assorted parts and are not even close to being actual issue firearms. As I recall, they were at least safe to shoot vs some other parts rifles. Zero collector value. Don't think I'd part with $400 for it.

As a collector they are not. as for a shooter, probably good.I made one myself. A #4 reciever and # 5 barrel. The furniture I modified myself. A great shooter and fun. It is even more accurate than my real #5.
