hi nutz! please allow me to introduce myself...

i was born and raised in and near Edmonton, AB. i was five years old when my dad first took me shooting. a single-shot bolt action .22 s/l/lr and a single-shot break action .410 completed our arsenal. a couple coffee cans and three magpies completed our take. i was hooked. started out with my first daisy lever action bb gun at age 10, moved up to a .177 pellet gun at 12, and my first .22 at age 14.

when i turned 16 and got my driver's lisense, guns took a back seat to my interest in cars, motorbikes, and girls for the next 10+ years or so. luckily i regained my senses and i got my PAL a couple of years ago and have been progressivly getting back into the sport.

looking to start filling my gun safe now and a good friend of mine suggested i join this site. i'm shopping for my first big game hunting rifle (so i don't have to borrow dad's anymore) and am leaning towards a TIKKA T3 7mm rem. mag. and a Robinsson XCR for varmints and critters. any feedback/suggestions are welcomed.

i'm quite impressed with what i've seen of this forum thus far and i'm excited to now be a part of your community.

Hi. Re-think a magnum of any kind. They're not necessary for hunting anything and the ammo is expensive. A .308 or .30-06 Tikka will kill any game you care to hunt with no fuss and less felt recoil.

Welcome. I use a 308 for deer, elk, and moose. I have recently picked up an enfield sniper and use it, 303, for moose now cause I would hate to let it sit in the safe away from the action.
