Looking to build my first AR in 223 for 3 gun matches. What would be a good higher end upper to purchase that would give good accuracy out to 300 yds +. I have a assembled good lower end with the Giessele SD-3G trigger.
Thanks for helping

There are a lot of factors in your decision and that will affect your choice. Price range? Barrel length? Twist desired? Do you reload and have a pet load? Or using bulk stuff. A Colt Canada Diemaco IUR or, for that matter, any Colt Canada barrel, is renown for accuracy. You can start there. Don't forget good optics also. Doesn't matter how accurate the rifle is if you can't see out to 300+yds.

Considering the only differences among standard forged uppers and lowers is price, you can "get away" with using any in-spec upper, the cheaper the better.

Exactly. Just 'cause it costs more doesn't mean it's automatically better. Heck, ya can even true up the cheapie receiver to ensure the barrel is square to the receiver but that's about it me thinks for an upper. Spend the money on a good barrel and glass.

Just buy yourself a PWS upper. My 12 inch piston driven rifle has over 5000 rounds down the pipe without a failure and can shoot sub moa with quality ammo. Wylde chamber and 8 twist is standard.
