Good Buck Rub pics

Just talked to the land owner tonight. He says that post has been used for 3-5 years. He is not sure if it is one deer, or a bunch using the same post over and over again. Like Huntsman said, maybe next year I wil set up a blind for my daughter to try and drop her first.....I used her 6.5x55 to drop a nice buck this morning.

So Barry...when are we hunting there next fall? Maybe time for the girls to get their licenses, seeing what deadly shooters they are, when need be.

BigUglyMan or BUM :) if you prefer,

Unfortunately these rubs are right smack dab in the middle of the CWD area. I just checked the site and there are 10 positives in 13E and 14E out of about 1000 deer. Doesn't look good for next year as they will probably continue the CWD program until there is not a darn deer left! I believe around 5600 deer were taken last year. As you can see the numbers are way down. Be lucky if there is 50 taken next year. Here is the link if you wish to generate the provincial summary. I turned in a head yesterday and he said he had 3 more new positives so I don't if they are in this summary yet.

See you this summer?

Still debating if I'll be out for the Pingert or if I'll wait until fall and tie in a bird trip as well as letting you all whip my backside for the provincials. Might try to shoot both legs of the provincials, even if I have to do it all in two days. That's starting to sound like work, but what the hey?

You going to have that wing fixed for next year or are you relegated to loader/spotter again?

BUM,
Still having major problems with my right elbow. Bench rest shooting seems to aggrevate most. At present is no longer gives me much pain, until I try to do something such as lifting, screwing bolts, hauling deer out of coulees etc. Swimming really seems to do it in and I used to do lots of that.
Next summer is a ? for us. Oldest girl may have other interests, youngest may get interested in shooting so I may have a team. If not, then it will be an experimental year for me trying different loads and bullets, and of course Texas Hold'em in the evenings.
Look forward to seeing you and your parents again.

I will keep my eyes open on these two buck rubs for next year....who knows maybe you will be here and I can show you the area and you can sit in a blind!

Regrets re: the CWD situation. Not Good !

From the looks of the landscape behind the rubbed post, it looks like the deer are attracted to about the only thing that's vertical in that part of the flat-assed prairie ! You could probably install a post where you wanted it ..."build it and they will come" ... rather than putting a blind near that one ... one the other hand, traditional behaviour is hard to beat. Pit Blind ???

We were hunting a monster muley this year. He was seen 4 times but no one got a shot off at him. he'll be there next year we hope. He was seen once last year. I'm told he is 35" wide and heavy with deep forks.

These are big rubs by mule deer standards. All these rybs come from the same big muley.
