good buck

Being in NS, you must have a great spot to let a nice buck walk! I know when I was in NB, ANYTHING with antlers was shot as you never knew if you would see another one, let alone a nicer one!

Here's hoping you get your deer! Looking forward to pics!

Cheers
Jay

I let this little guy walk last week Jay.I do have a reasonably good spot, mostly due to the fact i don't shoot all the little ones,Don't get me wrong there was a time when i was younger that i would have shot them.It seems as i get older it's just as much fun to try to get pictures as it is to shoot them.I had the crosshairs on the bigger buck and i think i even started the squeeze, then i realized it was going to make a pretty poor video and i backed off. It's hard to explain, the next time i may shoot him in the same situation.Last year i let lots walk and ended the year without filling my tag.I have only two animals that i shoot every time without hesitation, porcupine and coyote.

I had a very hard time picking up the buck I shot last week - it was very flat light, 10 minutes after legal sunset. I heard him coming for about a minute as he wandered amongst the bush making all kinds of noise (leaves) but I couldn't spot him from my stand. He actually came within 30 meters of my position and crossed right in front of me - his dark brown coat really blended in with the dead leaves. It wasn't until he moved his head that I spotted the rack but I was twisted around in an awkward position, he was still walking, and I wasn't sure I'd get a shot off. He then moved perfect broadside, stopped and started browsing. Big mistake. :)

Good videos BTW.
