I am looking at scoping a No. 4 Mk I. (for someone whose eyesight is not as good as it used to be). The rifle is a plinker (and sometimes a groundhog rifle :D), so the scope need not be super fancy or expensive. On the other hand I don't want something that is going to fall apart after a little bit of use. Any suggestions?

Weaver durability standard for their modern K series fixed power, (4x or 6x) is 10,000 rounds of .375 H&H Magnum. The old made-in-USA steel K series probably meet that, too.

The old Weaver K2.5x, K3, K4, K6 are all good scopes and can often be found in good serviceable condition for under $100. And they look sort of right on an old Lee Enfield in a way that modern scopes don't.

If you are patient, I'll sell you a Weaver Challenger 4x, a cheaper version of the K4 with an alloy tube and good glass but a plastic saddle, which on mine cracked. It's away to Trace Scope Repair and I was thinking I would sell it when it comes back.
