Just saw this elsewhere. Is it a good deal do you think?

Up for sale is a CZ/BRNO actioned rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (8x57). It appears to have been captured at one point and then arsenal refinished as the bolt, bottom metal, and barrel don't match the action but barrel and action have the same arsenal stamps. Because of the mismatched parts I had a gunsmith check headspacing and in his words it is "exceptional". The barrel appears to be off an M48 mauser or similar, not sure about the bottom metal. The stock is a custom piece of maple, quite well done, with a limbsaver recoil pad. Unfortunately at some time someone was a little rough on the top of the receiver, likely trying to remove some iron sights. According to the gunsmith there should be enough metal still if one were to reprofile the action to clean it up a bit if one were to want to use the action for a custom build. Safe to shoot and great truck gun you don't have to worry about beating up as is or may be a candidate for a custom build. Asking $400 shipped to your door.

I wouldn't think so but that's JMO if you want a truck gun to beat around and not worry about the grab a old Lee Enfield 303, just about any gunsmith would have one for $200 or less

Receiver would probably be ground to remove a crest, not sights.
It's really not cost effective to do custom rifles on military actions any more, and count yourself lucky to even find somebody willing to do it.

Looks like on of the Globe conversions, would need some work to put on a scope mount. You would be better off with one of the Tradex Husqvarna rifles, based upon the FN Supreme actions.

Tradex has tons of commercial and sporter '98's in 8mm for less then $400, most already D&T, bent bolt, wing safety, ready to go.
Lots of commercial and sporter '96's for $200-$300 as well.

This..... these old mausers are very solid rifles...... Tony at Tradex is your friend here.... heck, if you are serious about a purchase there I could even go hand pick one for you, as tradex is local to me, and then me with tony is always time well spent.

OP here.

I'm not interested. I have three Husqvarna rifles and Brno-based custom as well.

When I saw this on another site I thought the seller was a tad optimistic considering what he's got there.
