Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good pieces of crown land to go hiking and camping in Coastal BC? Plan on spending a few days. And any good hunting area suggestions would be appreciated as well, type of game doesn't matter.

I live in the lower mainland, but distance isn't too much of a problem (I've driven across the US 14 times in the last 5 years) as long as it is logging/dirt road accessible.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

head up the sea to sky and over the Duffy lake rd on the way turn right up any of the roads you come to. Your within a couple hours of endless places to explore. From there you can continue on to cactus, chukars and sheep country. keep heading north and you be tripping over deer, moose and grouse.............................. Or just stay local and shoot migratory birds. Google earth would help you.

I flew the vallies of Pitt Lake and Indian Arm this winter for work- STUNNING. Its also on your back doorstep! You can access Indian Arm from the Squamish side or boat into Pitt Lake and quad around. Well worth it.

Head up the East Harrison road. B.C. Forest Service has built new campsites at Km 21. Follow it out to the Nahatlatch, then to North Bend. Hotsprings around Km32. The road is in good condition.

I haven't been up Indian Arm FSR in a number of years, my understand was that there was a couple of pretty good slides and a bridge or two that were damaged. Sounds like the MOF isn't really interested in clearing the road anytime soon. Sucks because there are a couple nice lakes / exploring in that area.

From the Squamish Forest District office:

STAWAMUS/INDIAN RIVER Wilderness FSR Seasonally deactivated 4WD access only
No public access beyond approximately 10km due to pulled bridge ** no anticipated repair date **

As far as I know, it is gated too.

I used to go there a lot before they gated it and never reopened it after one nasty winter and spring and while it was fun for 4x4 trucking I found it piss poor for actual nice hiking.
