Howdy, bit of a yarn an some photos from todays outing.
Nice an early start but got a bit held up at the ute, I had to have a Cuppa before I went anywhere, so I grabbed out the little gas stove an boiled up a brew, the young fellow I took out today was antsy an keen to get out there, Being bush I said ' it probly looks like im fuouknnin around a bit but don't stress, theres deer in there we just got to find them'... Which was pretty much the case, or is the case when it comes to Victorian SFs.
I hadn't been here for over 12 months but thought it was worth sussing out again, I've proberly covered 1/5th of the area to date so its unknown for most parts.
Hadnt been going to long when the first animal was put up, early on so didn't fuss on it too much an continued on, got up into the flats an bottoms of the gulleys where the terrain looked really good, thickish but open, it had it all.
Stalk, glass, Stalk , glass, It went similar to that for quite a while until we bumped into a very Young deer, I only seen this one
I thought it was just a calf, so I was scanning for mum but I didn't find her, after the 20 minutes of watching her, Little mate said he seen something darker sneak off when we first seen her, So I guess that was what we were there for, We later come across runnin marks of a bigger deer the next ridge over after givin some air between the Hind an Ourselves.
We spent the rest of the day with not much success, Was great to see new area, an few wallows were TC worthy I think!
couple more photos
Take care.
